Jake Tallies Three Top 5 Finishes with USMTS, Nick Lands Fourth Place Finish at Tucson
Nick was in action at the Tucson Speedway in Tucson, Arizona in the Nascar Modified division. Nick set fast time in qualifying, which put him on the pole for his heat race. He slipped out of the groove on the start and ended up third in his heat, which put him fifth in the feature lineup. In the main, he quickly raced from the third row to battle for the lead and as that battle waged on, contact was made and Nick was sent to the tail for his involvement. From there, Nick charged through the field over the next 13 laps and rallied to a fourth place finish for his efforts.
Jake was back on the road with the USMTS as the series competed in a 4 day stretch across the Midwest. The 4 day swing started on Wednesday at the Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, MO. Jake struggled all night with a 7th place finish in his heat race and 9th place run in the b-main. The team changed engines before the Thursday night show at the 81 Speedway in Park City, KS. The engine change made a huge difference as Jake won his heat from the outside of the front row before redrawing the 5th starting spot for the feature. In the main, Jake raced from 5th inside the top five all event long, coming home with a 4th place finish when the checkered flew.
Friday, the team made their way to the Humboldt Speedway in Humboldt, KS. At the Hummer, Jake again won his heat race from the front row before starting 5th and racing forward to a solid second place finish after the 40-lap main was in the books.
Saturday night, the 4 race tour wrapped up at the Tri-State Speedway in Pocola, OK. Jake started 4th and raced up to 2nd in his heat and redrew the 5th starting spot for the third night in a row. In the feature, he raced inside the top five all event long and came home fourth.
