Jake & Nick find Victory Lane on Saturday at 81 Speedway and Tucson
Both O'Neil brothers won features on the same night for the first time in their racing careers on Saturday night. Nick, who raced in his Modified at the Tucson Speedway in Tucson, AZ swept the night, qualifying #1, then winning his heat from the pole and repeating that feat in the main event, starting on the pole and leading every lap to race to the win. Friday night, at the Lakeside Speedway in Kansas City, KS for the 5th annual Grant Junghans Memorial, an event that Jake has won in the past, he finished 4th in his heat race, then ran second in the b-main before starting 18th and racing forward to record a 9th place finish in the feature.
Saturday night, at the 81 Speedway in Park City, KS, he won his heat race from 4th and then used a late race restart to his advantage to charge from 7th to the lead and into victory lane, picking up the $10,031 paycheck for his efforts. (Todd Boyd photo)
Sunday, at the Humboldt Speedway in Humboldt, KS, he raced from 8th to 3rd in his heat and then after a spirited battled with his chassis builder Jimmy Owens, he settled in to cap off a solid weekend with a 4th place finish for his efforts.
