Driver Information
It all started in 2010 when I experienced my first track day on my Suzuki sv650. Within a few months of track day riding I earned my racing license. One month later I was invited to race Superbike Peru, being the first woman to race in their country, placing 4th in both races. Less than a month passed before I was off to race at Phillip Island Australia. After returning to the U.S., my bags were packed once again, relocating from Delaware to South Florida for a full time position with Prieto Performance Racing.
Life was great and I was more than happy, until April 2011 when everything changed. During race practice I was involved in a crash due to mechanical failure which threatened amputation of my right leg. Eventually, I made a full recovery but was forced to move home and sell my race bike to offset medical expenses. It never once crossed my mind to quit, give up or stop racing due to injury.
My father was my #1 fan but had never seen me race in person. May 2013 he was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer and less than a year to live. I decided right there, no more waiting, it’s now or never. My return to racing did not come fast enough though. By the time I was able to compete locally, it was too late, my father passed in May 2014.
The challenges I conquered have physically and mentally made me stronger than ever and feel truly alive when I’m racing. My mother now comes to races and helps out in the pits. We traveled across the country together in 2015, making it to every race with dad watching over us. This year, 2016 will be bitter sweet, as I earned my expert license and plan to compete in MotoAmerica. While I wish my father was here, I know he is always by my side and at every finish line.
