Top-5 finishes for Cody Thompson during Midwest Madness Tour

After picking up the Midwest Madness Tour opening night win on Sunday at Worthington Speedway (Worthington, Minnesota) Cody Thompson collected two more IMCA Modified top-five finishes during his races on the tour.

Thirty-nine Modifieds entered Monday night’s program at Clay County Fair Speedway (Webster, Iowa), where Thompson won his heat race and started the $1,000-to-win main event from the outside of the front row in his Harris Auto Racing No. 25C machine.

He led several laps of the A-Main on the 3/8-mile track but had a plug wire come off while leading and finished second to Tom Berry Jr. Jacob Hobscheidt, Cody Laney and Jack McBirnie completed the top five.

On Tuesday, Thompson followed the tour to his home track of Park Jefferson Speedway (Jefferson, South Dakota) for another $1,000-to-win show with 35 Modifieds in the pit area.

Thompson finished second in his heat on the 3/8-mile oval and drove from fifth to third to land on the podium in the 20-lap A-Main. He trailed race winner Tim Ward and runner-up Hobscheidt at the finish, while Dyllan Ricks and Dakota Sproul came home fourth and fifth, respectively.
