Thompson scores Midwest Madness Tour opening night victory at Worthington

Sunday night served as the kickoff for this year’s Midwest Madness Tour presented by Western Iowa Racing Results, and Cody Thompson walked away from the event $1,000 richer.

The opening night of the five-day tour brought 39 IMCA Modifieds to Worthington Speedway (Worthington, Minnesota). Thompson steered his Team Harris Auto Racing No. 25c Modified from eighth to second in his heat race on the quarter-mile track, starting him on the pole for the A-Main.

The Sioux City, Iowa, driver led all 25 laps of the feature event to take the win by 2.980 seconds over Joshua Rogotzke, with Chris Palsrok, Brandon Beckendorf and Zach Dockter completing the top five.

The victory was Thompson’s fifth feature event triumph of the year.

The Midwest Madness Tour continues with stops at Clay County Fair Speedway, Park Jefferson Speedway, Buena Vista Raceway and Stuart International Speedway.
