Thompson claims IMCA Modified win at US 30 Speedway
On Thursday evening at US 30 Speedway in Columbus, Nebraska, Cody Thompson took his second A-Main win of 2023 with a triumph in the IMCA Modified division.
The Sioux City, Iowa, driver started the evening by steering his Reich Painting & Decorating Co. Inc. No 25C to a heat race win on the 1/3-mile clay oval, putting him on the pole for the night’s 20-lap A-Main. Thompson went on to lead all but one lap in the main event to take the victory in front of Jordan Grabouski, Austin Svoboda, Jared Hoefelman and Ryan Jenkins in a 14-car field.
On Saturday, Thompson shifted to the 3/8-mile Park Jefferson International Speedway (Jefferson, South Dakota), where he was one of 18 entrants in the IMCA Modified class.
Thompson drove from eighth to first to win his heat race and started ninth on the grid for the 15–lap feature. He again moved steadily forward during the race and finished in the second spot behind winner Jacob Hobscheidt. Ryan Jenkins came home third, Ricky Stephan took the fourth position and Chris Mills finished fifth.
