Sanders takes 5th in Brandon Mitchell Memorial
On Saturday, Rodney Sanders turned in a strong showing in an impressive field at Old No. 1 Speedway in Harrisburg, Arkansas.
Forty-seven Modified teams descended on the quarter-mile track, where a $5,001 top prize was up for grabs in the inaugural Brandon Mitchell Memorial honoring the racer known as “Heavy.”
Sanders set the quickest time overall in qualifying with a 15.691-second lap and went on to win his heat race from the pole. He started fourth in the Heavy Duty 35 and turned in a fifth-place finish after battling throughout the race. He took the checkered flag behind Kyle Beard, Terry Phillips, Drake Findley and Chanley Putterman.
