Pair of third place finishes in Mod Mania at Mason City

On Tuesday evening Rodney Sanders was one of 30 United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) entries on hand at Mason City Motor Speedway (Mason City, Iowa) for the three-day Mod Mania presented by Keyser Manufacturing. Gaining three spots in his heat to place third, Sanders locked into the fourth-starting position for the opening night feature. Passing one car in the 35-lap affair, Rodney notched a third place finish behind Tanner Mullens and Zack VanderBeek with Hunter Marriott and Terry Phillips rounding out the Top-5.

The following night for the $3,000 prize, Rodney logged a fifth place finish in his heat, which positioned him 19th on the starting grid for the main event. Coming two spots shy of a Top-5 finish, Sanders advanced through the field 12 spots to register a seventh place outing.

For the final round of Mod Mania on Thursday, Sanders jumped up two spots in his heat to pick up the 8-lap victory. Starting the $4,000-to-win finale in second, Rodney briefly overtook Lucas Schott for the lead on lap 19 before surrendering back the top spot a lap later. Wrestling it back on lap 24, Sanders led the ensuing two circuits until eventual race-winner Dereck Ramirez assumed command of the lead on lap 26. Hanging onto a podium finish in the remaining distance, Rodney Sanders recorded a third place finish behind Ramirez and Lucas Schott with Terry Phillips and Hunter Marriott completing the Top-5 finishers.
