Rodney Sanders
Pair of Top-5 finishes in Fall Jamboree at Deer Creek
Behind the wheel of his Kenny’s Tile No. 20 Modified, Rodney Sanders invaded Deer Creek Speedway (Spring Valley, Minn.) on Friday afternoon for the 22nd annual Featherlite Fall Jamboree. Drawing a stout field of 70 United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) entries for the two-day event, Sanders marched forward six spots in his heat race to register a third place finish. Earning the 11th-starting position for the $7,000-to-win A-Main, Rodney improved six spots in the 40-lapper to place fifth behind Jake O’Neil, Brandon Davis, Terry Phillips, and Jason Hughes.
Returning on Saturday, Rodney gained eight spots in his heat race to pick up the 8-lap victory. Starting the $10,000-to-win finale in sixth, Sanders was up to second by lap 13 and began closing the distance on race-leader Jake O’Neil. Unable to close the gap on O'Neil, Sanders faded one spot late in the 50-lap affair to finish third behind O’Neil and Jake Timm with Zack VanderBeek and Jacob Blees rounding out the Top-5.
Rodney remains out front in the latest USMTS National Championship point standings. For more results from these events, please visit www.USMTS.com.
