Bresette Finds New Racing Venture For 2012
PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. - Jamey “Speedy" Bresette enters the upcoming racing season at Airborne Speedway with a surge of momentum after claiming his first Mini-Modified track championship at the famed half-mile.
The Plattsburgh native has elected to take up a new venture this summer with aspirations of competing in the inaugural season of Sportsman-Modified racing at the Plattsburgh speed plant.
The challenging transition from a four-cylinder class to Airborne's new support division is something Bresette is prepared to conquer.
“This is a huge stepping stone for me," Bresette said. “This is an exciting time, and it's been a dream of mine to be racing with the Modifieds at Airborne. I plan on quickly adapting to this new style of driving and setups so I can be competitive with some of the elite drivers in this new division."
Bresette plans on using his experience behind the wheel of a stock car as a vital attribute in his new endeavor. The 30-year-old Plattsburgh native competitively raced in the Bomber division from 2006-2008 and the Mini-Modified division from 2009-2011. He earned eight wins, 25 top-three and 45 top-five finishes in 70 career starts during that span.
During the off-season, Bresette has been seeking potential sponsorship to help aid the financial aspect of his racing program.
“I have a lot of business propositions to offer for possible advertisers," Bresette said. “We made our first step with the creation of bresetteracing website to help endorse any sponsor willing to jump on-board. Also, our team at Bresette Racing has purchased an in-car camera for the upcoming racing that I'll be using weekly at the racetrack. There's no shortage in marketing possibilities."
Throughout his tenure behind the wheel, Bresette is thankful for the help and support he has received during that last six years from various people within the racing community.
“I've definitely got to thank Chuck Johnson of B.C. Johnson Electric for all of the dedication and generosity he's been giving me throughout the years," Bresette said. “Also, without the support of my family and friends, racing wouldn't be much fun at all. Of course, I can't forget to recognize my fans. It brings goose bumps to me while out on victory lane and hearing all of the support from the local fans, what a wicked feeling"
