Perspective: 10th at Devils Bowl

Just three short years ago Ray Parent and the Amtrol Ford Fusion Team faced disappointment failing to make the starting field for a number of American Canadian Tour events. Rookies in 2011 with the Vermont based series Parent found himself looking on as the main event took place on more than one occasion.

Fast forward to 2014 where the Tiverton, RI driver is in the thick of a points battle, were second through forth in the series standings are separated by just 8-points; and the 17RI machine has reeled off three straight top-ten finishes.

The disappointment of missing races has been replaced by that of it’s just not good enough after claiming their first series victory in May. While the Team has come full circle from where they started they are no longer satisfied with just earning top-ten’s.

Running as high as forth, Parent battled a faulty wheel bleeder and just 20lbs of air in right-rear tire to finish tenth overall in the Spring Green 114.

“It’s disappointing”, stated Parent. “We had such high hopes going into Devils Bowl [Speedway]… A tenth place after a problem that was nobody’s fault is a really great finish. It shows how far this Team has come. It puts everything into perspective when we can leave disappointed with a top-ten.”

Parent reflected on the progression of the Team that's now consistent contenders on the ultra-competitive Tour.

“It makes you smile when you think about where this Team started”, stated Parent. “We've come so far, I’m so proud of everyone for effort they've put in. We've shown we can win and run in the top-ten weekly... Now we are working towards top-fives every race.”

Parent will look to continue that consistency when the series heads to White Mountain Motorsports Park in Woodstock, NH this Saturday. The high banked New Hampshire oval will mark round #6 of the 9-race schedule for the Vermont based Tour.

“We don’t really know what to expect for White Mountain”, stated Parent. “We won our heat race last year, but had a mechanical failure on lap-2 of the feature... Our program is so much better now than it was just a year ago, so we're defiantly looking forward to being in contention.”
