Racing Down South - El Paso Speedway and Southern New Mexico Speedway
I had a decent weekend down south. Didn't finish where I would have liked both nights but I also proved that I could race with the best of them. Friday night proved that El Paso is still a struggle for me even in the Sprint Car. I was in the 2nd heat and started in the 7th position and finished in 8th which put me in the first B-main. For the main event I started 7th and that is where I stayed ending my night in the B-main.
Las Cruces has always been a better track for me. I drew a bad pill putting me in the back of the 1st heat out. I started in the 9th position and I knew I had something to prove to myself and to my fans that watched me win the Legends championship in Southern New Mexico last year. I can tell that I am getting more comfortable with the car and handling when I was able to work through the pack to go from 9th to a 3rd place finish and also taking part of my 1st top 8 pill redraw. I proved once again that I can't draw a decent pill and started 8th in the main event. My crew and I wanted to make some changes for the main and take a chance on how the track was going to be by the time we got out there. Unfortunately I finished 21st, however I had a great time, I stayed safe and the car is all in one piece. I need to thank my crew David, Steve, Clyde, and Russ for their constant encouragement and support. Nothing Ventured Nothing Gained. Thank you to the fans for sticking with me as I make the transition to Sprints and to my Grandfather Bobby Jackson without him I wouldn't be able to live my dream. I also want to thank my sponsors David Burns and Hal Burns Truck RV and Equipment , CARQUEST and Autolite.
