Hodges Motorsports Update - USA Raceway

We are all finished up and on the road now after the second day of the Roger McCluskey Classic. It was another day show in the desert, and the weather turned out to be beautiful. I kicked off the night from the 4th starting spot in the first heat. The car in front of me got a bad start, and I slipped back to 5th. The track was slick, but there was still moisture you could find, and it was pretty fast. I charged my way back up to fourth, and was all over third and the leaders when the checkerd fell. That set us up for the 3rd starting spot in our qualifier. We were confident, as the track got slicker, that we could adjust and get even better. Once again, I was stuck on the start, and I fell back to 4th. By the second lap I was up to 2nd, but by that time it was too late to catch the leader for the win. After points were added up, I was set in the 6th slot for the main. They tilled the top and bottom, which made for a 2 lane racetrack, but that did not help us as far as setup went. We took the green, and the outside row did not go, so we all fell back about three spots (me about to 9th) where we'd all get sorted out. I got by a couple cars before a lap 9 yellow. the car kept getting better and better after the top started getting worse. After the yellow, we ran the rest of the race green to checkerd, and on the final lap, I was able to scoot on the bottom underneath two cars to finish 5th. It was a bit frustrating to have such a good car and only get back to 5th, but I was happy with our progress. I need to give a big thank you to Benic Enterprises, Keizer Wheels, Tim Palmer, the Ortega's, Wilwood, CarCrafters, Action Powder Coating, and Mike Campbell for helping us get this car ready on such short notice. I would also like to thank Napa, K & N, Conroy, ButlerBuilt, FK Rod Ends, Cabinet Door Store, Mesilla Valley Transportation, and Wesmar Racing Engines for their continued support all throuout my career. Next stop for us looks to be the Chili Bowl, just to watch Satuday's action, and then Copper World back in Tucson, AZ after that.
