Starks Gains Valuable Experience Following Tough Schedule in 2014

Inside Line Promotions – PUYALLUP, Wash. (Oct. 27, 2014) – The focus for the 2014 season was experience rather than statistics for Trey Starks.
“The only way you will get better as a driver is to test yourself against the best,” he said. “We spent a couple of months competing in Pennsylvania against the PA Posse and tried to do a few more World of Outlaws events this year. I know we don’t have as many wins and top fives as we’d like, but I think I’m a better driver than I was a year ago.”
Starks finished the season with one victory – a Summer Thunder Sprint Series event at Skagit Speedway in Alger, Wash., on Aug. 28 – and 11 top fives. He also earned 23 top 10s, including five weekends during a six-week stretch with a top 10 in Pennsylvania.
“Racing in Pennsylvania is as tough as it gets week in and week out,” he said. “There aren’t just a couple of guys competing for the wins. First you have to race hard to make the main event each night and then it seems like there are 20 drivers good enough to win.”
Pennsylvania was one of four states where Starks recorded at least one top five, led by his home state of Washington with seven top-five finishes.
“It’s always good to run well at home,” he said. “Not only are those the races that my family is able to attend the most, but it’s also important to race well in front of most of our sponsors.”
Additionally, Starks scored three top 15s during World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series events, including once in Washington, California and Arizona.
Starks said he will likely have a similar schedule next season when he will push himself against the elite talent in Pennsylvania and the Midwest along with select World of Outlaws events across the country.
“We’re trying to get better every year and I feel like we took a step forward in 2014,” he said. “We are working on some plans for 2015 right now so hopefully we will have an announcement about that soon. Regardless of what the schedule entails, I’m excited to get things rolling for next season.”
