Championship Showdown Set for Labor Day Weekend at Can-Am Speedway
Well once again Can-Am Speedway heads into an off week this coming Friday night after a great night with all five divisions in action and night where fans could meet their favorite drivers and get a few autographs and pictures.
Scott Webb put on a great performance one week ago in the Whitesboro Plowshop DIRTCar 358 Modifieds. The Brownville New York driver took the lead from Brian Hudson just past the halfway point of the 25 lap feature but was not done there. Webb then held off Lance Willix and Tim Fuller in a green-white-checkered finish to secure his first win in nearly one full year. Fuller’s 3rd place run unofficially locked him into a 4th straight track title with one race remaining.
Ryan Shanahan was the dominant force in the Bob Johnson Auto Group DIRTCar Sportsman division. The Carthage driver took the lead at the drop of the green flag and went unchallenged in the caution free 20 lap race, winning by a full straight away. Paul DeRuyter and Gavin Eisele completed the podium.
It was a great night for Anthony St. Mary Jr. in the Sundance Leisure Thundercar 15 lapper. He started on the pole and held off a determined Tony Frezzo to grab his division leading third win of 2024. Frzzo crossed in 2nd while Jared Gilson backed up his first career win on August 2nd, with a strong third place run.
It was right place right time for Brady Howard in the Donath Motor Worx Limited Sportsman event. Howard was running second under caution with three laps to go and took the lead when Camdin Cook ducked into the pits under yellow. Howard marched on to his third win in a row and 5th of the year in the 12 lap feature.
Tucker Donath has enjoyed a solid year in the Panther Frame Worx Crate Sprint cars. The Palermo driver took the lead from George Sanford on lap 9 of the 15 lap event and held of a fast closing Josh Verne Jr. to score win number three on the season. Verne scored yet another second place finish with Andrew Hennessy crossing in third.
Track championships will be on the line August 30th and you won’t want to miss the exciting action that is set to take place on championship weekend.
