NORTH JACKSON, Ohio (April 13, 2016) – After working against Mother Nature for the past two weeks, losing back-to-back potential starts at Mercer Raceway Park, as well as a practice session at Lernerville Speedway, Jack Sodeman Jr. will finally have the opportunity to launch his 2016 season. Sodeman will shake off the dust this Friday night at Lernerville Speedway; opening night for the Sarver, Pennsylvania, oval, as well as the first night of championship points.
“I think we may finally get this one in,” said Jack Sodeman Jr. “We’ve been pacing around the shop waiting for our chance to get back to the track. April is always a tough month to get through; a lot of crazy weather. One thing about it, we are ready to go. We’ll work to put ourselves in a solid position on Friday night and hopefully win our first night out.”
Jack Sodeman Jr., a veteran on the Western Pennsylvania 410 sprint car circuit, finished fifth in the final Lernerville Speedway track championship standings in 2015. The pilot of the familiar Glassmere Fuel, Economy Tooling, PRS Transit, Townsend Gas & Oil, Inc., Butlerbuilt, Keizer Aluminum Wheels, Simpson Race Products, Triple X Race Components, No.23JR landed on the podium multiple times during his 2015 Lernerville Speedway campaign, including a win during his final start of the season. The feature victory was accomplished without the top wing; capturing the Buckeye Outlaw Sprint Series (B.O.S.S.) non-wing portion of the Steel City Stampede in late October.
The upcoming weekend will continue on Saturday evening, April 16, with a visit to the Mercer Raceway Park in Mercer, Pennsylvania. Like Lernerville Speedway, Mercer Raceway Park will open its gates to open wheel competitors for the first time in 2016 during the weekend, awarding a $3,000 top prize. Jack Sodeman Jr. is the defending Mercer Raceway Park track champion, his second title in three years.
“Hopefully we are racing a minimum of two nights a week, every week,” explained Sodeman. “The way our schedule sits right now, we won’t be chasing another track championship at Mercer Raceway Park, but that won’t keep us too distracted. We’ve been good there and our results show that. We’ll work to keep things going in the right direction on Saturday.”
On a special note, Jack Sodeman Jr. will debut his throwback edition sprint car design during the upcoming weekend. The special edition No.23JR, honoring his family’s long-time involvement in sprint car competition, will feature a look similar to that of Jack Sodeman Sr.’s 1985 ride.
