Clauson Reaches Circular Insanity Quarter Pole this Weekend
Lonnie Wheatley, JACKSONVILLE, Ill. (May 6, 2016) – With 48 races already in the books, Bryan Clauson will reach the quarter pole of the “Circular Insanity Tour” pursuit of 200 events in 2016 with this weekend’s #LetsRaceTwo event at Rossburg, Ohio’s Eldora Speedway.
And while most on hand will get in two events, both nights offer the opportunity for Clauson to pull double duty and extend the season total to 52.
The #LetsRaceTwo event features two full nights of action including both the World of Outlaws Sprint Cars and USAC National Sprint Cars.
“I’m really looking forward to Eldora,” Clauson commented. “The last few times there in the non-wing car we have run really good and we’ve had good speed there in the winged car too.”
Clauson comes off a week that was borderline sane due to Mother Nature. With original plans last weekend of four races in three nights all eliminated by rain, Clauson salvaged one night of action last Friday with a last-minute run to Belleville, IL, for POWRi Midget action.
A top-five run at Belle-Clair Speedway was followed up by Wednesday night’s World of Outlaws outing at Illinois’ Jacksonville Speedway that pushed the “Circular Insanity Tour” race count to 48.

With last Friday’s WoO card at Oklahoma’s Salina Highbanks Speedway, Clauson and company had time to hightail it to Belleville, IL, for a POWRi Midget tilt at Belle-Clair Speedway in the Dooling Machine/Cancer Treatment Centers of America/Jonathan Byrd’s Restaurant & Hospitality Group No. 63. Clauson earned his 24th top-five run of the year with a fifth-place finish.
“We started on the pole of the heat and won it, but no passing points put us seventh in the feature. We started seventh and kinda ran there most of the way. It was a different track than you usually see at Little Belleville, it was a little rough and kinda hard to slide a guy. We weren’t really good enough, we fought being tight all night and just weren’t quite good enough to make things work.”
Race 48
Wednesday’s World of Outlaws card at Jacksonville Speedway in the Elk Grove Ford/Cancer Treatment Centers of America No. 17w Sprint Car was one of those nights to put in the rearview, with Clauson missing out on a transfer to the feature by just two positions after getting buried deep in the field after a tough qualifying lap.
“We had a bad qualifying effort and it’s hard to recover from that, especially with so many cars there. If we had a yellow in the ‘B’, we might have had a shot at getting to a transfer. It was just so hard to run down a guy and then get clear, then run down the next guy. We just ran out of time.”
Now it’s time for #LetsRaceTwo at Eldora Speedway and bursting past the Circular Insanity quarter pole.
