Rick Mitchell
Fernie, BC
Driver Information
Rick started racing in his last year of high school in Cranbrook, BC in the Street Stock division. Won the "roll over" award that year.
He took a few years off after getting married and tried his hand at Team Roping where he placed 3rd in British Columbia heeling and 8th in Canada. The racing bug took hold again in 1986 when he started helping Larry Barton with his NASCAR Northwest Tour car, where he was crew chief for 4 years, until he bought a street stock and started piloting the 66 again at Cranbrook International Speedway.
He won the 2005 Hobby Stock Championship at Cranbrook International Speedway.
In 2006 with the track closing Rick and Cliff started racing Canadian IMCA in Southern Alberta at tracks in High River, Lethbridge, Calgary, Drumheller & Medicine Hat. After the closure of 3 of these tracks we started hauling to Montana Raceway Park as it was closer. We now call MRP our "home track" however at the end of the 2018 season we started racing at Stateline Speedway in Post Falls, ID and Mission Valley Speedway in Pablo, MT.
Red Rabbit Racing consists of 3 generations, Rick his son Cliff, his grandson Treysen and his nephew, Colby White. Rick and Cliff both run Hobby Stocks while Treysen & Colby run Bandoleros.
Rick has a quirky little superstition where he grows his beard and hair until he secures a Main Event win.
