Two top 10 finishes at Shady Bowl and Spitzer
Derek and his crew made their first appearance this year at Shady Bowl Speedway in DeGraff Ohio and Spitzer Speedway in Mansfield Ohio. Snyder had never raced either of these tracks so it was expected to be a challenge and learning experience. Snyder qualified 8th at Shady Bowl. In the heat race Snyder was charging to the front when him and Jeff Bloom made contact. In the feature Snyder finished 9th behind some very fast race cars. The team never quite figured out the fast way around but left with a decent finish.
Next up was Spitzer Speedway, a lightning fast half mile in Mansfield Ohio. Snyder had also never run this track in a winged sprint car so wasn't sure what to expect. Snyder qualified 8th with a 14.029. Starting on the pole in his heat race, Snyder pulled to an early lead until his right rear tire started going down causing him to slip back to a 3rd place finish. In the feature, Snyder would start on the outside fourth row. Jason Blonde eventually worked his way around Snyder and Snyder got around Johnny Bridges which would secure him an 8th place finish. Next stop is Toledo speedway.
