Valiquette and Vinney crowned King of the Hill

The inaugural King of the Hill at Escanaba Motor Speedway brought 17 Sport Mods and 12 Unified Street Stocks to do battle for a crown and bragging rights.

Local driver, Matt Valiquette earned the Sport Mod King of the Hill with Frank (the tank) Gasperini or Iron Mountain as runner up.

Fond du Lac racer, Brian Vinney Jr. captured the Bichler Concrete and Gravel Unified Street Stock class with Brayden Lundquist of Bark River as runner up.

Each reigning King of the Hill was awarded $500, a King of the Hill crown draped with a red velvet robe by Escanaba Motor Speedway president, Amy Gagne.

Paul Wagner of Escanaba and Doug Belongia of Suring, WI. won the loser's bracket races for the Bichler Concrete and Gravel Unified Street Stocks and Bink's Coca Cola Sport Mods respectively.

Jimmy Cool of Cool Racing Garage spearheaded the event and garnered sponsors for the purse. Jimmy said he pitched the idea for King of the Hill to bring a fun event to the track for drivers and fans. Cool remarked racing is fun, but he wanted to bring a "fun" event rather than the regular race format. With much positive feedback Cool Racing Garage plans to bring the event back in 2026.
