10 Things to Know
- 2018 will mark the 65th consecutive year of racing in Jackson and this will be the first year the track has not been a half mile track. Last fall turns 3 & 4 were brought in 265’ to make it a 4/10th mile oval starting in 2018.
- Jackson Motorplex and the Park Jefferson Int. Speedway are working together in 2018 to help grow the Racesaver 305 Sprint Car class by offering a $200 progressive bonus if a 305 driver runs in the top 3 at Jackson on Friday and wins the 305 feature the next night at Park Jefferson.
- MAVTV will broadcast the Arctic Cat All Star event on Friday July 27th for playback in Sept.
- The Lucas Oil Dirt Late Model series will make their first ever appearance to the speedway on Wednesday night July 18th with LMSS Touring Street Stocks as the support class for the night.
- A new pit area will welcome race teams to the 2018 season with new lights from Musco lighting and a viewing platform in the center of turns 1 & 2. Pit crews and drivers will also have a new sidewalk to go back and forth from the pits to the grandstands.
- The scorers and announcers will have a new perch high above the suites in a fully enclosed area that will give them ample space to do their jobs on race nights, thus freeing the previous scoring room to be used as an additional suite on race nights.
- The Jackson Motorplex has invested in their own pack trucks with Left rear sprint car tires all the way around to help pack the track prior to racing each night. These wide tire trucks will not only pack the surface faster but will not rut up the track as much as conventional street tires.
- This year kids 8 & under will have a chance to get a trophy from each feature winner after the races. Thanks to Heser Auto, the winner of each feature will be given a second trophy to go give to a kid in the stands.
- We continue to listen to our dedicated fans and their ideas and suggestions, so this year we will be adding a few new items to our concession menu. We will be offering chicken strips, Ice Cream novelty items once it warms up, and mac & cheese along with our trademark concession items.
- If you see drivers coming thru the stands prior to the races starting on certain nights, it’s because of a meet & greet with sponsors. The Nightly sponsors are given the opportunity to visit with 3-4 drivers just prior to the driver’s meeting and get photos taken along with autographs.
