Inside Line Promotions – KNOXVILLE, Iowa (May 30, 2016) – White Lightning Motorsports endured a roller coaster weekend filled with ups and downs.

The action began last Friday when Jamie Ball headed to Jackson Motorplex in Jackson, Minn., to tackle the GoMuddy.com National Sprint League 360 Tri-State Region event that featured double main events.

“The night started good,” he said. “I hadn’t been to Jackson in five years since I ran a 305. In the heat race I wasn’t able to get the jump on Ian Madsen so we finished second.”

That lined Ball up on the outside of the fourth row for the first 20-lap main event.

“I had a good line high in turns one and two and low in turns three and four,” he said. “I was up to fifth when we had a yellow with three laps to go. I thought I had a chance at a top three. I ended up trying a few different lines and fell back to seventh. I definitely had a top-five car.”

Ball placed seventh in the first feature, which was his ninth top-10 finish in a row. He then started on the outside of the third row for the second 20-lap main event, which was inverted by 12 cars.

“We threw some new tires on it and tightened it up a bit,” he said. “I had a decent start and maintained. On the second lap I went in behind Russ Hall going into turn one. All of a sudden his car fell flat. I think his motor shut off. I jumped his right rear and it launched me like a ramp. The first hit it tore the front end off the car and I guess it helicoptered four or five times. All I know every time it hit it hurt really bad.”

Ball, who was credited with a 20th-place result, was taken to a local hospital and was released that night. However, he elected to sit out the remainder of the weekend.

“I want to thank Seth Bergman for running our number on Saturday at Knoxville and for Jordan Goldesberry for doing the same on Sunday at 34 Raceway with the Sprint Invaders,” he said. “They both finished fifth so that helps us stay in the hunt for the owner’s championships.”

White Lightning Motorsports teammate Devin Kline had his best outing of the season on Saturday at Knoxville Raceway in the 305ci class.

Kline qualified seventh quickest before he charged from third to win a heat race. He then advanced from sixth to third place in the main event, but was credited with the runner-up finish after another driver was disqualified.

“We were off a tick on the car in qualifying,” he said. “Larry (Ball) made some good changes on the car and we tried a little different setup than we normally do and we were able to go from third to win the heat.

“In the feature it was a full throttle heavy track with all the rain we got. To be able to go from sixth and cut up through the field was a good feeling. I needed this to get back some confidence.”

Both Ball and Kline are slated to compete at Knoxville Raceway this Saturday.
