Lancaster Motorplex Releases 2023 Stock Car Schedule
LANCASTER, NY (December 1, 2022) … Lancaster Motorplex management is pleased to announce the race dates for the 2023 stock car season at the historic facility. The schedule is jammed-packed with something for everyone with more announcements coming soon.
An open practice session and tech day for all divisions will take place on Saturday, April 29. The season will kick off on Saturday, May 6 for the 64th Season Opener featuring the Sportsman, Late Models, Street Stocks, 4 Cylinders, and Mighty TQ Midgets. Saturday night short track racing will continue on May 13 with the first visit of the season from the New York Super Stocks, joining the Sportsman, Street Stocks, and 4 Cylinders. Racing for the month of May will conclude on May 20 with the Sportsman, Street Stocks, 4 Cylinders, and Mighty TQ Midgets on the card.
Saturday June 10 will be the running of the annual Sportsman 50, plus the Street Stocks, 4 Cylinders, and TQ Midgets. June 17 will mark the inaugural visit by the 350 SMAC Supermodifieds to Lancaster. Joining the 350 SMAC Supermodifieds will be the Sportsman, Street Stocks and 4 Cylinders. A rain date of Sunday, June 18 will be utilized if needed for this show. The month of June will end on Thursday, June 29 with the running of the Ol’ Boy Cup for the Modifieds, plus Street Stocks, 4 Cylinders, and TQ Midgets.
Thursday Night Thunder will return to Lancaster on July 13 with the Sportsman, Street Stocks, 4 Cylinders, and TQ Midgets all in action. On July 22, the popular and fan-favorite Autograph Night will take place. The racing program that night will feature the second visit of the season by the New York Super Stock Series plus Sportsman, Street Stocks, 4 Cylinders, and TQ Midgets.
After a very successful inaugural visit by the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour in 2021, the tour returns to Lancaster Motorplex on Saturday, August 5, 2023. The Sportsman, Street Stocks, and 4 Cylinders will be on the card with the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour. The race in 2021 was a photo-finish, as Orchard Park, NY driver Patrick Emerling won the 150-lap race over Justin Bonsignore, and Max McLaughlin. Saturday, August 12 will see the long-waited return to Lancaster of the Tommy/Tony race for the Modifieds, remembering two drivers who made their mark on the history of Lancaster Modified racing, Tommy Druar and Tony Jankowiak. The Modifieds will be joined by the Street Stocks, 4 Cylinders, and TQ Midgets. Then on Thursday, August 17, the running of the Street Stock 51 in memory of Ken “Hurricane” Heckler will take place. The Sportsman, 4 Cylinders, and TQ Midgets will be on the card on that night.
Season championship night will take place on September 9 with the Sportsman, Street Stocks, 4 Cylinders, and TQ Midgets all in competition.
The 35th US Open Weekend will take place September 22-24. Headlined by the Modifieds, the Sportsman, Late Models, NY Super Stocks, Street Stocks, 4 Cylinders, TQ Midgets, and the Small Block Super Championship Series will all be in action throughout the weekend.
After a successful event during the US Open Weekend, the 4 Cylinders will have three opportunities to race on the big track, June 17, August 5, and September 23. More information regarding the 4 Cylinders on the big track will be released over the coming months.
Race times and admission prices will be released over the coming months, as will the date of the 2023 Registration Party.
The 2022 stock car season will officially end on Friday, December 16th with the awards banquet at the Elks Club, 33 Legion Way in Lancaster, NY. Cocktail hour will begin at 6:00pm, with dinner being served at 7:00pm, and awards ceremony will begin at 8:00pm. The meal will be catered by Jocko’s and there will be an open bar including pop, mixed drinks, wine, and bottled beer. Registration forms for the banquet are now available on www.lancastermotorplexny.com and on social media. RSVP’s are due no later than December 8, 2022. Tickets are $52. Payment can be made via check to Lancaster Motorplex and can be sent to PO Box 322 Lancaster, NY 14086 or on Venmo @brian-brunka-1. Registration forms are to be turned in with the checks, or if paying by Venmo, email briankwp19@gmail.com The speedway will honor the 2022 track champions, George Skora III (Sportsman), Mark Hoch (Street Stocks), and Charles Palmer (4 Cylinders), as well as many accomplishments made by all drivers throughout the 2022 stock car season.
