Supercharged for Sonoma!

Derek will be ready to go at Sonoma Raceway on September 18. Check out some of his thoughts ahead of The Racer's Group's home race.

Q: There are only two races left in the Pirelli World Challenge season. What are your goals heading into the penultimate race weekend in Sonoma?

A: Jason will be sharing driver duties with me over the weekend and so track time will be very limited. I only have one race (and a limited number of practice minutes) to get maximum results. I'm aiming for a Sonoma podium!

Q: Why do you look forward to Sonoma each year?

A: I look forward to Sonoma for a few reasons. It's the closest race to my home and it's also the home race for the TRG team. That means there will be a lot going on including lots and lots of fans and a lot of team support. I always love that!

Q: What kind of prep do you do before a race?

A: I focus on staying fit and almost always spend some time on the simulator in the weeks building up to an event. We are also in the middle of a huge push and looking to get our partnerships lined up for next season, and that means meetings, hand shaking and sponsor activation to be organized. Luckily I have lots of help in this area from Brooke, Gail and the entire TRG team.

Q: You do a lot of great work helping Cate and Mason, two kids with childhood cancer. How will they be riding along in Sonoma?

A: Cate and Mason are always with us -- represented on the car and in our constant thoughts. There will continually be ways to [donate}(derekdeboer.com) to each of their causes right here on my website and more ways I'll continue to get them involved. It's such an honor to be able to help both of these brave kids!

Q: How can people keep up with you over the season and the off season?

A: One way is to check in right here. We are regularly updating my website with news and videos and photos. Speaking of videos, Brooke has been hard at work on our FastLife YouTube channel. A: I like punk rock music and I find it relaxing to play in on my guitar. I'm not very good, though...
