Kyle Beard
Top-10 finish in third round of Wild West Shootout
On Wednesday night, Kyle Beard was one of 57 Late Models registered at FK Rod Ends Arizona Speedway (Queen Creek, Ariz.) for the third round of the Keyser Manufacturing Wild West Shootout. Following the fourth fastest lap overall in time trials, Kyle secured his spot into the $5,000-to-win A-Main with a second-place finish in his heat behind Jason Papich. After a scheduled off day on Thursday, Beard came one spot short of a transfer position in his heat race on Friday with a fifth place finish, sending him into the B-Main. Streaking to a 10-lap consolation victory over Gordy Gundaker, Kyle locked into the 19th-starting position for the feature. With $5,000 on the line, Beard muscled forward four spots in the 30-lapper to register a 15th-place outing.
On Saturday evening, Kyle followed up a fifth place finish in his heat race with a 10-lap B-Main win. Passing five cars in the 40-lap feature, Beard recorded a 15th-place finish.
After failing to record a lap in time trials on Sunday, Kyle completed three circuits of his heat race until pulling off. Needing a fourth place finish or better in his B-Main to make the $25,000-to-win finale, Beard passed 12 cars in the 12-lapper but failed to transfer by one spot.
