Cade Dillard
Top 5 Finish in Fifth Round of Wild West Shootout
On Wednesday evening for the third round of the Wild West Shootout at FK Rod Ends Arizona Speedway (Queen Creek, Arizona), Cade Dillard came in fastest in his qualifying group before capturing a heat race victory. Starting the $5,000-to-win A-Main in fourth, Dillard challenged Brandon Sheppard for the lead early but issues with his steering shaft on lap 21 sent him into the turn-two wall. He was unable to finish the remaining 13 circuits.
Returning on Friday night, Dillard followed up the second fastest lap in his time trial group behind Ricky Thornton Jr. with an 8-lap heat race victory. Receiving the fourth-starting position for the A-Main via the redraw, Cade got collected with another competitor on the eighth lap that sent him to the tail. Wheeling his way into the Top-10 in the remaining distance, Dillard reeled in a 10th place outing.
For the fifth round on Saturday evening, Cade secured his spot into the $5,000-to-win A-Main with an 8-lap heat race victory. Starting in third, Dillard dropped one spot in the 25-lap affair to place 4th behind Brian Shirley, Ricky Weiss, and Brandon Sheppard with Bobby Pierce coming in 5th.
Wrapping up the 14th annual Wild West Shootout on Sunday, Dillard laid down the second fastest lap in his time trial group behind Ricky Weiss before capturing a heat race victory. With $15,000 on the line in the feature, Cade was an early retiree from the 50-lapper on lap 22.
