Joshua Shipley Captures Fourth Consecutive Podium Finish

Inside Line Promotions – QUEEN CREEK, Ariz. (April 9, 2019) – Joshua Shipley earned his fourth consecutive top-three result with the San Tan Ford ASCS Desert Sprint Car Series last Saturday at Arizona Speedway, which featured the division as the support class during the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series event.

“I was lined up to start third in my heat race, but was moved to the front row after the polesitter got into a wreck,” Shipley said. “We won the heat race, but didn’t get any passing points so that put us as the sixth qualifier.”

Shipley pulled the No. 5 in the feature redraw to start on the inside of the third row of the main event, which he wasn’t upset about. The track was really good, Shipley said, and he felt confident in what his car could do.

“We ran fifth for most of the race, but eventually fell back to ninth as I tried to avoid a wreck,” he said. “The car was good though and we were able to race our way back up to third. I wish that we would’ve had just a couple more laps. I think we could’ve gained at least another spot. Overall, it was a good weekend and I’m proud of the outcome.”

The strong result gives Shipley a 39-point lead in the championship standings. He’s one of only two drivers with four top fives in the six series races this season.

Shipley will take the next couple of weekends off before resuming competition with the series on April 27 at USA Raceway in Tucson, Ariz.
