Giovanni Scelzi Wrapping Up Season This Weekend at Copper Classic

Inside Line Promotions – FRESNO, Calif. (Nov. 21, 2017) – Giovanni Scelzi is slated to conclude his highly successful sophomore season racing a sprint car this weekend at the Copper Classic.

Scelzi will drive for BDS Motorsports on Friday and Saturday at Arizona Speedway in Queen Creek, Ariz., where he will make his debut during the ASCS Southwest Region doubleheader.

“I’m looking forward to going to a new place,” he said. “I’ve watched some video and it looks like a racy race track. I watched the Western World race earlier this month and it looked awesome. Hopefully it slicks off and is pretty racy this weekend.”

Scelzi has recorded one win, four podiums, five top fives and six top 10s in 10 races with BDS Motorsports this season.

“I felt like we’ve been in contention at every race we’ve been at,” he said. “We’ve had speed everywhere. If you get yourself comfortable in a seat you’re comfortable everywhere. All race tracks are round. They’re all different, but they’re the same in some aspects. I think we’ll be pretty competitive.”

Scelzi enters this weekend riding a five-race top-10 streak. He’s produced 11 top 10s in 16 races since his last win.
