$5k To Win & Oxford 250 Starting Spot: All Up For Grabs During Leonard Evans 150

The Leonard Evans 150 at Wenatchee Valley’s Super Oval(WA) has quickly become one of the biggest races in the Northwest in just it’s first 5 years of existence, now the race is getting bigger. Officials with WVSO and the Pro All Star Series have teamed up to make this one of the biggest races of the year, the winner will walk away with $5,000 and multiple drivers in the field will have a chance to race in one of the most prestigious short track races in the country, the 45th Annual Oxford 250.

In the first five years, the Leonard Evans 150 has drawn some of the biggest names of the west coast Super Late Model racing world like Tayler Riddle, Jeremy Doss, Brittney Zamora, Garrett Evans and many more. The race features one of the more unique trophies with one of the Leonard Evans license plates mounted on engraved plaque to honor the former track owner and longtime racing supporter. Now some of those drivers will have a chance to take the money and head to the east coast for a chance at history.

The Leonard Evans 150 at WVSO on April 27 will be a qualifier for the 2019 Oxford 250. The winner of the event, if PASS Licensed andOxford 250 entry is received by PASS by June 1, 2019 will have a provisional and full start money. The Driver must still attempt to qualify for the Oxford 250. The second and third place finishers of the Leonard Evans 150 will have a provisional and half start money, if PASS licensed and entry received by June 1, 2019. They must also attempt to qualify for the Oxford 250. If none of the top three finishers takes the provisional for the Oxford 250, then the highest finisher who’s PASS licensed and turns their Oxford 250 entry in by June 1st, 2019 will receive the provisional.

“We’re excited to make this race bigger this year with the added winnings along with a chance for a driver to make the trip back to one of the crown jewel racing events in the country and have a guaranteed starting spot,” said WVSO GM Jeremy Anders. “We’re excited to be working with Tom Mayberry and PASS, their one of the most premier organizations in the country. We’re working on bigger and better stuff for this race in 2020.”

“This is a great partnership between two tracks and series on opposite sides of the country. We’re looking forward to working with WVSO and NWSLMS for the Leonard Evans 150 event,” said PASS President Tom Mayberry. “Wenatchee has been a great partner over the years. We really hope that this will give a driver that has wanted to make the trip a chance to know they can make the 2,000 mile journey with a guaranteed spot in the Oxford 250.”

The Leonard Evans 150 on April 27th will be the second race of the year for the Northwest Super Late Model Series. Drivers are excited about the new additions for the Leonard Evans 150.

Tayler Riddle is two time winner of the event and will look to defend his title in 2019.

“I’m looking forward to going back to this race. It’s great to have the purse back up to $5,000 this year for the winner. I’ve always thought about going back to one of the big races like the Oxford 250 and knowing that this provisional is on the line now, it makes the race even that much bigger to win,” said Riddle.

One driver that is eyeing victory with a lot on the line is Garrett Evans. The race is in memory of his late father and he’s come close to winning the event but finished second a few times. Now add into that weekend a provisional to the Oxford 250 and the induction to the WVSO Hall of Fame of his longtime engine builder Jim Socci, this would be one of the biggest wins of his career.

“This is a special race for me with my dad’s memorial, plus we’re inducting a great friend into the WVSO Hall Of Fame, I really would like to get this win. I don’t know how many more years that I have to race and maybe going back to the Oxford 250 again would be pretty cool. If I get into victory lane that weekend, it would be pretty special and emotional for me” said Evans.
