Limaland Motorsports Park
Wallace, Anderson, and Irwin Notch Wins
Lima OH
06/10/16
Limaland Motorsports Park swung open the gates on Friday June 10, and fans were treated to some of the best racing of the season in all 3 classes. No. 22T Tony Anderson would claim his 3rd career Keysor Memorial victory, with NASCAR legend, No. 36 Kenny Wallace winning the K&N Filters UMP Modified feature, and No. 0 Steve Irwin picking up the Rick's Truck and Equipment BOSS Non-Wing Sprint Car A Main.
The Modifieds would kick off the night in the 5 lap McDonalds Dash for Cash. #36 Brandon Vaughan, of Spencerville, Ohio would grab the $100 dash win, and set the stage for a great night of racing.
The Bud Thunderstocks kicked off feature action for the night with the running of the 15th Annual Keysor Memorial, honoring 1990 Limaland Stock Car Champion, Bobby Keysor, and his Dad, Bill. No.21H Brad Conover, and No.82 Chris Douglas would lead the field to the green flag in the 18 lap feature, with Anderson running a tremendous race to grab the win. "Bobby Keysor drove my first race car, and is the reason I started driving myself" Anderson would say in victory lane. "He drove for me in 1992 in an old bomber and when I started building a new car for 1993, Bobby told me that I should drive it. I took the wheel and here I am, 300+ feature wins later" No.7 Jordan Conover, the 2015 Keysor Memorial Champion would finish 2nd, with No.69 Rob Trent 3rd, No.17J Jarrod Klay 4th, and No.1J Jason Jimison completing the top 5.
Next up were the Rick's Truck and Equipment BOSS Non Wing Sprints in their 25 lap feature. Fenton, Michigan's Steve Irwin would grab the win in his No.0 Sprint Car over No. 54 Matt Westfall, after a green to checkered feature saw the 2 get into deep lapped traffic, and put on a clinic for the fans in attendance. No.7k Dallas Hewitt would finish 3rd, with No. 89 Shawn Westerfield 4th, and No.9n Luke Hall finished fifth after starting 21st!
Completing the night were the K&N Filter UMP Modifieds, in their 20 lap A Main. Defending track Champion No.Jeff Koz would lead the field to green alongside No.P0 Brody Pompe, and the 2 looked like the one's to beat until Kenny Wallace was finally able to make his way from his 8th starting spot and stalk the leaders. Wallace would wrest the lead from Koz and set sail to grab the win. Koz would finish 2nd, with Pompe 3rd. No.10L Nathan Loney would be 4th, and No.22T Tony Anderson would complete the top 5. Limaland's Greg Stolly put Wallace on the spot and asked if he will be returning for the Childers Media Group "King of the Quarter Mile" event at the end of the season. "It's gotta make sense for us. We were able to make this tonight, because we were able to fit it in our northern swing we're on. If it makes sense for us at the time, we will try to be here", Wallace told the crowd.
Limaland is back in action on Friday June 17 for "Run For the Rabbit XVI" presented by Lima Chevy Cadillac. The K&L Ready Mix NRA Sprint Invaders will compete for a top prize of $2000 in the event honoring the memory of Travis "the Rabbit" Miller. Also in action will be the K&N Filter UMP Modifieds, and Bud Thunderstocks. For details on this and all events at Limaland Motorsports Park, visit www.limaland.com.
