Top-5 finish in Carolina Sizzler at The Dirt Track at Charlotte

Dale McDowell invaded Beckley Motorsports Park (Beckley, W.Va.) on Friday evening to take part in the Schaffer’s Southern Nationals opener. After starting the night off with a heat race victory, Dale was an early retiree from the 53-lap feature on the second lap with a broken axle.

After Saturday night’s stop at Wythe Raceway (Rural Retreat, W.Va.) fell victim to Mother Nature, McDowell traveled to the Dirt Track at Charlotte (Concord, N.C.) on Sunday for the inaugural Carolina Sizzler. With time trials setting the grid for the $20,000-to-win A-Main, McDowell clocked in 15th fastest in a field of 28 cars. Wheeling his way into the Top-5 in the feature, Dale passed 11 cars in the 60-lap affair to register a fourth-place finish.
