Nothdurft returns to Volusia for DIRTcar Nationals

On Monday afternoon, Blair Nothdurft was back in action at Volusia Speedway Park (Barberville, Fla.) to compete in a stout field of 51 Late Models for the 50th annual DIRTcar Nationals. Falling short of a transfer position in his heat with a seventh place finish, Blair transferred into the B-Main for another shot at the opening night feature. Locking in the Top 2, Nothdurft finished sixth, bringing an early end to his night.

The following night, Nothdurft came in fifth in his heat race before streaking to a 10-lap consolation victory. Earning the 19th-starting position for the $7,000-to-win A-Main, Blair faded two spots in the 30-lap affair to register a 19th-place finish.

On Wednesday evening as the remainder of the weekend shifted under the World of Outlaws Morton Buildings Late Model Series banner, Blair logged a seventh place finish in his heat race, sending him into the B-Main. Needing to place second or better to make the show, Nothdurft recorded a 10th-place outing.

For another $10,000-to-win A-Main on Thursday, Nothdurft took part in time trials but after Mother Nature delayed the program for nearly three hours, Blair made the decision to scratch from the remainder of the evening to save his equipment. (Michael Boggs Photography)

With the field reduced to 38 cars on Friday night, Blair timed in eighth fastest in his time trial group before placing seventh in his heat. With lingering electrical issues hampering his performance, Nothdurft faded back to a seventh-place finish in his B-Main.

Persistent rain overnight on Friday wiped out Saturday night’s finale.
