Two teams descended on the state of Florida ready to begin the race season with some success and momentum to build on. The Zemco Racing Team and Lucas Wolfe traveled south from PA on their annual journey to Speedweek. Veterans of the event and ready to top the best teams in the country. Clyde Knipp, a rookie, arrived from Missouri ready to fly his rookie flag and prove he can keep pace amongst a stellar field.
As the laps wound down for the weekend, the SCHNEE No. 1Z of Lucas Wolfe battled past the biggest teams to score a second place finish in the finale. "It was a great way to end the whole week for all of us at Zemco racing," Wolfe said. "It was a good race for us, I was competitive the whole race." This momentum will carry forward as the team returns to PA for the start of the Eastern Pennsylvania season.
Clyde Knipp and the CKR team embarked on their maiden journey as outlaws. “We are really excited to be joining such an elite group of drivers for 2016,” says Knipp. “It has always been a dream of mine to compete with the Outlaws, I never thought I would actually get a chance to do it though.”
Speedweek results proved positive for the new team. "We continued to build speed, remained smooth, and confident!" CKR will rejoin the Outlaws again in Texas in mid-April and trail them throughout the Midwest. Upon high school graduation in May, Clyde and the team will follow out the rest of the season with the Outlaws starting at Williams Grove Speedway, in Mechanicsburg, PA.
