After Mother Nature clobbered the area forcing PPMS to cancel several weeks in a row, Dirt’s Monster Half Mile was back in action on Saturday night when the fastest cars on dirt came to town.

The Falconi’s Moon Township Auto 410 Outlaw Winged Sprint Cars headlined the event for their first outing of the 2023 season at PPMS.

PPMS would see qualifying, nine heat races, and seven feature events. AJ Flick (2), from Apollo, would win the 25-lap feature event for the Falconi’s Moon Township Automotive 410 Outlaw Winged Sprint Car Series. Ayden Cipriano (5C), from Hermitage, would pick up the win for the RUSH Sportsman Modified 15-lap feature after he started on he pole. For the RUSH Late Model dirt series, Kyle Lukon (184L), from Burgettstown, would take home the win. Jordan Perkins (13J), from New Castle, would pick up his second win for the Penn Ohio Pro Stocks. Logan Koteles (64K) would pick up the win for the Hobby Stocks after Stephen Shelpman (17P) was disqualified for an illegal tire. Matt Knight (71), from Plum, would pick up his first Crawford Auto Repair Four Cylinder win of the season. Sadie Snatchko (56), from Oakdale, would pick up her first win for the All Ways Safe Flagging & Traffic Control Young Guns.

In the Falconi’s Moon Township Automotive 410 Outlaw Winged Sprint Car Series 25-lap feature, Carl Bowser (11) would take off like a rocket when the green flag dropped, and he would claim the early lead. However, it was short-lived as Flick (2) would take over the lead by lap four. The fastest cars on dirt were hitting speeds of 150 mph on the straightaways and would get very spread out at times, But, with (2) Flick still leading on lap 14, Bowser (11) was hot on his heels in second place. But Flick (2) just had it dialed in and would go on to win the event. He was followed to the line by Brandon Matus (13) in second, Dale Blaney (32) in third, Carl Bowser (11) in fourth, and Jack Sodeman JR (23JR) rounds out the top five. The heat race winners were AJ Flick (2) & Darin Gallagher (12).

Ayden Cipriano (5C), from Hermitage, would start on the pole in the RUSH Sportsman Modified 15-lap feature. Starting to his outside was JC Boyer (12), from Burghill, Ohio. When the green flag waved, Boyer (12) and Cipriano (5C) would battle side by side for the lead. Cipriano (5C) would have the lead at the line and the race would run green to checkers in record fashion with Cipriano (5C) leading all laps of the event to pick up the win. He was followed by Boyer (12) in second, Chelsie Kriegisch (10) in third, Kole Holden (2) in fourth, and Jordan Ehrenberg (JD57) would round out the top five. The heat race winner was Kole Holden (2)

In the Rohrich RUSH Late Model 20 lap feature, a pair of 184s would start on the front row. Kyle Lukon (184L) would start to the inside in P1, and Cole Petrelle (184P) would start on the outside. When the green flag dropped, the duo would drag race into turn one with Petrelle (184P) seeming to have the early lead but that was short-lived as Lukon (184L) would soon take over the lead. Lukon (184L) would come away with the lead when it mattered and pick up his first Rohrich RUSH Late Model win of the season, he was followed to the line by John Mollick (4) in second, Petrelle (184P) in third, Brandon Burgoon (5X) in fourth, and Mike Reft (9R) in fifth. The heat race winners were Petrelle (184P) & Dave Goble (20G).

Dale Tuche (310), from Cheswick, would start on the pole for the Penn Ohio Pro Stock 15-lap feature with AJ Poljak (36), from Baldwin to his outside. Nick Kocuba would start in third, with Perkins (13J) to his outside starting in fourth. When the green flag waved, Poljak (36) would take the early lead. Poljak (36) would lead until he had car troubles between lap one and two which would give the lead to Perkins (13J) who climbed his way to the front from his P4 starting spot early in the event. Perkins (13J) would take over from there and go on to win his second Penn Ohio Pro Stock Feature for the 2023 season. He was followed to the line by Jackson Billyk (5) in second, Jacob Billyk JR (4JR) in third, Nick Kocuba (10) in fourth, and Tuche (310) would complete the top five. The heat race winner was Perkins (13J).

Up next were the Hobby Stocks and they had Gary Koteles (65K), from Stockdale, starting on the pole with Garrett O’Patchen (25), from Finleyville, starting to his outside in second. The next row had Ben Anton (13), from Jefferson Hills, starting in third, and Jacob Wiser (OU2), from Mckees Rocks, starting to his outside in fourth. When the green flag waved, Gary Koteles (65K) would take the early lead. Eventually, Stephen Shelpman (17P) would take over the lead, and lead all remaining laps of the event to pick up what appeared to be his second win of the season and second win in a row. However, during post-race tech inspection, Shelpman’s car was deemed illegal by PPMS Tech Officials and he was DQed which made Logan Koteles (64) the winner. Following them to the line were G. Koteles (65K) in second, Matt Benard (15) in third, O’Patchen (25) in fourth, and Marc Corio (14) completed the top five. The heat race winners were Shelpman (17P) & O’Patchen (25).

Matt Knight (71) would start on the pole for the Crawford Auto Repair Four Cylinder Eight-Lap feature event with his brother Chris Knight (78) starting to his outside in second. When the green flag waved, M. Knight (71) would pull away with the early lead. It wasn’t just an early lead as M Knight (71) would lead all laps of the event, en route to another PPMS win. He was followed to the line by Eric Reynolds (53) in second, Mike Kelley (6) in third, Kyle Janas (88) in fourth, and Craig Rudolph (5R) would round out the top five. The heat race winner was Kyle Janas (88).

In the All Ways Safe Flagging & Traffic Control Young Guns Feature, Sadie Snatchko (56), from Oakdale, would start on the pole with Zoey Knight (78Z), from Plum to her outside in second. When the green flag waved, Snatchko (56) would pull away with the early lead. She would take that early lead and turn it into her first win of the season by leading all laps of the event. She was followed to the line by Z. Knight (78Z) in second, Sumara Weaver (112W) in third, Gavin Kokolis (91) in fourth, and Paige Jones (67) rounds out the top five. The Young Guns did not run a heat race.
