31st Annual Pittsburgher 100 weekend up next at ppms

Join us at Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway this Friday, October 4, and Saturday, October 5, for the two-day season finale. On Friday, PPMS will be featuring the Diehl Automotive RUSH Late Model Dirt Touring Series, the RUSH Sportsman Modified Dirt Series, the PPMS Pro Stocks, the Keystone Coach Works Hobby Stocks, the Four Cylinders, and the Young Guns. 
Friday will also see the qualifying events (heats & dash) for the RUSH Late Model Dirt Series Bill Hendren Memorial and the RUSH Sportsman Modified Dirt Series Betsy Kriegisch Memorial.
The Bill Hendren Memorial RUSH Late Model Dirt Series non-winners race (15-laps) will also be run on Friday night. 
On Friday, PPMS will have heats and features for the PPMS Pro Stocks, the Keystone Coach Works Hobby Stocks, the Four Cylinders, and the Young Guns. *** The Pro Stocks will have Penn Ohio rules, open tires, any compound. And, the Four Cylinders will have SCDRA rules.***
Saturday, October 5, will feature the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series with a full program including the 100-lap 31st Annual Pittsburgher 100. Saturday will also feature the 40-lap Bill Hendren Memorial for the RUSH Late Model Dirt Series, and the 2nd Annual Betsy Kriegisch Memorial for the RUSH Sportsman Modified Dirt Series. 
Two-day tickets are available for both the grandstands and pits, as well as, a one day ticket for Friday or Saturday only. Visit our for schedule section for pricing and tickets. 
On Saturday night, the action will ratchet up with the 31st Annual Pittsburgher 100. The single-day event for the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series will include a complete program of Miller Welders Time Trials, Heat Races, and B-Mains - highlighted by a 100-lap, $20,000-to-win feature event. 
The pit gates at Pittsburgh’s PA Motor Speedway will be open from about noon on, on Friday, and all day on Saturday. The general admission gates are set to open at 5:00 p.m. on Friday and 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. A Dirt Racing Outreach service is scheduled for 3:30 p.m., followed by a driver's autograph session at 4:30 p.m on Saturday. The on-track action will begin at 6:00 p.m. both Friday and Saturday.

Pittsburgh's Pennsylvania Motor Speedway will host this year's only "Bill Hendren Memorial" in the nation as the Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC RUSH Dirt Late Model Touring Series event will take place on Friday and Saturday, October 4-5 part of the "Pittsburgher 100" weekend that features the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series and also for the first time the RUSH Sportsman Modified Hovis Auto & Truck Supply Touring Series "Betsy Kriegisch Memorial". Thanks to FK Rod Ends in conjunction with Pro Fabrication, the seventh annual Northeast version will pay a record $5,000 to-win, $325 to-start. Also, Pace Performance will present the second annual "One to Remember" non-winners feature paying $600 to-win, $75 to-start on Friday night. 
This marks the fourth straight year PPMS has hosted the event and the second straight year that the event purse will see an increase. Last year's show jumped to $4,000 to-win, $300 to-start along with the addition of the $500 to-win, $50 to-start "One to Remember" race. For 2019, the feature, non-winners, and non-qualifier will all increase every position! This is due to the great efforts of Bill Hendren's son Steve and his family. FK Rod Ends in conjunction with Pro Fabrication have stepped up their involvement to grow the feature purse as has Pace Performance to present the "One to Remember". Also, CrateInsider.com, Miley Motor Sports, RUSH, Ingram Engines, 955 Automotive, and Race 1 have helped to increase the "One to Remember" purse.
"My family and I are looking forward to returning to Pittsburgh for the ninth annual 'Bill Hendren Memorial'," stated Steve Hendren. "This year will mark the first time that my mother Bettie will be able to attend this event in Pittsburgh, and it will be the first time she's been able to attend a RUSH event as well. As a family, we decided to move all future memorial races to the RUSH Racing Series, and we hope to continue our bond with PPMS as well. The professionalism of RUSH, PPMS, and the racers in the RUSH series is second to none. We would like to thank all of our sponsors for this event."
In 2005, Bill Hendren, the patriarch of the Hendren family and founder of Hendren Racing Engines, had the foresight to begin building his affiliation with crate racing. As many of his open engine customers looked to crate racing as an opportunity to continue racing, Bill began offering free advice via the well known 4M.net message board. As the concept grew throughout the country, his generosity and expertise were rewarded as many of those who had utilized his knowledge, in the beginning, utilized him as their engine rebuilder as their needs arose. Bill passed away on March 19, 2011, but his legacy and dedication to crate racing lives on through his sons, Steve and Mike, as the Hendrens are recognized throughout the entire country as a leader in this specialized form of racing as they continue to operate Hendren Racing Engines. 
"I look back to several years ago to a surprise phone call I received from Steve Hendren expressing interest in having a memorial event for his late father Bill Hendren in conjunction with a RUSH Touring event," explained RUSH Director Vicki Emig. "Although I never knew Bill Hendren personally, I certainly was well aware of his pioneering spirit and great success in the world of GM Performance crate engine racing. And now to have the Hendren Family allow us to hold their patriarch's 'only' memorial event of the year under the RUSH banner is truly an honor!"
The weekend will get started on Friday (October 4) with $100 FK Rod Ends "Shock the Clock" Qualifying. Drivers will then compete in FK Rod Heats heat races paying $25 to-win. Following the conclusion of the night's regularly scheduled events, the "One to Remember" RUSH Late Model feature will be run paying $600 to-win, $75 to-start. The winner of this race will also receive a GoPro Hero 7 white kit valued at $400 thanks to CrateInsider.com, a large winner's check, a laser-etched marble winner's plaque, and a $250 gift certificate from Crashes Custom Graphics through the efforts of Steve Hendren. 
To be eligible for the "One to Remember" race, a driver must compete in the regular "Bill Hendren Memorial" event and never have won a Crate Late Model, Steel-Block Late Model or any headlining division feature event or prior "One to Remember" race. The lineup will be determined off the "Bill Hendren Memorial" Tour qualifying times with a pill drawn for an invert (4, 6 or 8) depending on car count. 
Following the dash and last chance B mains on Saturday, the stage will be set for the 40-lap $5,000 to-win, $325 to-start "Bill Hendren Memorial". The feature winner along with the second and third-place finishers will also receive one of the sought-after laser-etched marble plaques.  
Also, the "Wheelman" Bonus Event for non-qualifiers at the end of the night will have an increased purse with $300 to-win, $150 to-start. Additional bonuses for non-qualifiers will also be announced soon. Along with being financial support for the event, CrateInsider.com has also posted a second GoPro Hero 7 white kit ($400 value), which will be awarded to a lucky driver by a random draw at the drivers meeting! In addition to the night's regular $100 Precise Racing Products "Pedal Down" Hard Charger, that driver will also receive a $250 gift certificate from Crashes Custom Graphics.

Daryl Charlier has won the last two "Bill Hendren Memorial" races at PPMS, while John Mollick won the event in 2016. Charlier and Mollick will be two of the favorites trying to stop Kyle Lukon, who has won both of the PPMS Sweeney Tour races this year including "Manufacturers Night" presented by MSD Performance and the "Jook George Steel City Classic". Lukon's wins accounted for more than $13,600!

The Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC RUSH Sportsman Modified Series powered by Pace Performance is set for the richest event in its six-year history as the Hovis Auto & Truck Supply Touring Series will be part of the "Pittsburgher 100" weekend at Pittsburgh's PA Motor Speedway for the first time ever this Friday and Saturday night (October 4-5). The second annual "Betsy Kriegisch Memorial" will pay $2,000 to-win, $225 to-start in addition to other bonuses and contingencies! Warm-ups will begin at 6 p.m. both nights.
"This is going to be a tremendous weekend for RUSH," stated Director Vicki Emig. "To have both RUSH classes share the spotlight with the Lucas Oil Late Models is tremendous via the $5,000 to-win 'Bill Hendren Memorial' for the Late Models and the 'Betsy Kriegisch Memorial' for the Sportsman Modifieds. Through the gracious donations of so many people, we've been able to grow this event into the richest Sportsman Modified race in the history of the region. We have to thank Miley Motor Sports for allowing us to showcase our division at one of the region's biggest events, and this will also be the RUSH Mods first-ever Tour race at the 'Monster Half-Mile'."
Friday night will feature Ohio Intra Express "Shock the Clock" Qualifying with $100 going to the fastest qualifier followed by heat races along with the pole position dash for $100 to-win thanks to Branden Lockwich. Saturday's program will include the last chance B main(s) and 25-lap feature that boasts a minimum payoff of $9,905 for the 24 starters (see complete purse below). In addition to the standard Tour contingencies, the following other bonuses have been posted. The Hot Rod 64 Heat Race Draw will offer all fourth and sixth place heat race finishers the opportunity to win $100 in a random draw thanks to Rodney Beltz. Don and Margie Frickanish have posted a $50 bonus to the driver that finishes last in the feature. Matus Motorsports will award the hard-luck driver a case of Brad Penn Oil.
There's also over $3,000 in product giveaways. To be eligible for the giveaways, the driver/car owner must donate a minimum of $50 towards the event AND compete on Friday night. Giveaways will take place on Saturday afternoon at the driver's meeting. Drivers/owners will receive one chance for a $50 donation and two chances for a $100 or more donation.

As for the standard Tour contingencies, Precise Racing Products will award a $100 gift card for the "Pedal Down" Hard Charger that passes the most cars in the feature. The TBM Brakes “Tough Brake of the Night” will award three bottles of Xtreme6 Racing Brake Fluid valued at approximately $45 along with a certificate for a discount off any TBM Brakes purchase.
Officials will determine the new Dirt Defender "Defensive Drive" to the driver that best defended his position throughout the night, and will receive a $40 product package. Officials will also determine the Sherwood Racing Wheels "Man of Steel" award winner as one that bounced back from an earlier mishap to finish the event strongly. The selected driver will receive a certificate for a free Sherwood Racing Wheel. The feature winner will also receive a Sunoco 5-Gallon Race Jug.
Defending Hovis Tour Champion, Garrett Krummert, leads the Series to Pittsburgh with an 18-point lead over Jim Rasey. Chas Wolbert, Rob Kristyak, and Kole Holden are third through fifth. Completing the top 10 points-paying positions are Kyle Martell, Greg Porter, Jacob Jordan, Tony Tatgenhorst, and David Kalb, Jr. 
So far in Tour competition this year, Wolbert won the non-point 2018 "Apple Festival Nationals" make-up feature to open the season at Sharon, while Kristyak won his first career Tour feature at Expo in July. Krummert won both Tour races at Sharon in August, while Eric Gabany topped a 35-car field at Sharon during the "Apple Festival Nationals" for his first career RUSH win.
Meanwhile, Kristyak has a two-point lead on Wolbert in the $3,000 to-win Hovis Weekly Series standings with Krummert trailing six points out of the lead. Holden and Tatgenhorst are fourth and fifth. Four Weekly Series races have been completed at Pittsburgh this season with Krummert winning the first two, while Tatgenhorst and Connor King won the last two for their first career RUSH wins.

You do not have to be a member of RUSH to compete. The AMB/MyLaps transponders are required. One-way driver radios are always mandatory at 454.000. The entry fee is $35. Pit passes are $75 for the weekend. Pits are open throughout the afternoon. A driver's meeting will be held at approximately 5:35 p.m. on Friday with pill cutoff at 5:45. Warm-ups will get underway at 6 p.m. followed by qualifying at racing.

Betsy Kriegisch, the mother of RUSH Sportsman Modified racers Chelsie and Jessica Kriegisch, passed away after an extended illness on February 21, 2018, at the age of 57. She was a strong supporter of both her daughters' efforts and by their side as they rose to prominence in the RUSH Sportsman Modifieds. Both girls quickly became competitive and fan favorites. A memorial event as a Hovis Weekly Series show was put together and held last year at Pittsburgh that attracted an all-time Pittsburgh record count of 26, and was won by Rocky Kugel. 
Both Kriegisch sisters got their start in go-karts while growing up watching their father compete in the Sprint Car division for many years. Chelsie made her debut in the RUSH Sportsman Modifieds during the inaugural 2014 season running a limited schedule. In 2015, Jessica debuted in the class running a limited schedule, while Chelsie competed full-time. Ever since both sisters have raced full-time in the Series. 
Chelsie won her first career race on July 13, 2016, in a Tour event at Expo Speedway making history becoming the first female to win a Tour event in the history of Northeast crate engine racing and also became the first female to win in the storied history of Expo. Chelsie added a second win last year on July 7 at Pittsburgh. Jessica meanwhile captured her first career win about a year later than Chelsie's first coming on July 24, 2017, at Pittsburgh. 
Betsy was the Kriegisch sisters' biggest fan. She was with them growing up in the grandstands watching Randy race and was able to see both girls not only win their first career feature but also was in attendance at both awards banquets when each received their Outstanding Achievement Awards from RUSH.
With all of the exciting racing action going on at PPMS this weekend, Miley Motor Sports will be paying out over $100,000 in prize money and you don’t want to miss any of the action.
