RUSH Sprints and rush modifies with the final points race of the season up next at ppms

Join us at Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway this Saturday, September 28, for an action-packed night of racing and family entertainment with the last points race of the 2019 season. On Saturday, PPMS will be featuring the RUSH Sprint Car Series, the RUSH Sportsman Modified Dirt Series, the RUSH Late Model Dirt Series, the PPMS Pro Stocks, the Keystone Coach Works Hobby Stocks, the Four Cylinders, and the Young Guns. The RUSH Sprint Car Series will make their final appearance in the 2019 season on Saturday. PPMS also featured them last Saturday, when Jeremy Weaver (41), from Stoneboro, picked up his first career RUSH Sprint Car win. In the RUSH Sprint Car Dirt Series points race, Zach Morrow (27M), from Gibsonia, leads the field with 588 points. Brian Hartzell (69), from Oil City, is 47 points behind Morrow (27M) and in second place with 541 points. Matt Sherlock III (55), from Beaver Falls, is only seven points behind Hartzell (69) and in third place, while Weaver (41) is in fourth place with 479 points and Bryan Woodhall (8), from Apollo, rounds out the top five with 385 points. With the top three all in contention for the RUSH Sprint Car Dirt Series championship, Saturday’s race will be one that you don’t want to miss!

The RUSH Sportsman Modified Dirt Series is one of the most pronounced series in Western PA dirt track racing. The RUSH Sportsman Modified Dirt Series usually has a 20-car field when they come to Dirt’s Monster Half-Mile. As well as rolling with a full field of cars, most of the drivers are good friends. Defending RUSH Sportsman Modified Dirt Series champion, Chas Wolbert (C3), from Howland, Ohio, is currently sitting atop the leaderboard with 385 points. Former track champion, Kole Holden (2), from Tiona, is only three points behind Wolbert (C3) with 382 points. Tony Tatgenhorst (63T), from Columbiana, Ohio, is sitting in third place with 379 points and is only six points out of first place. Tatgenhorst (63T) recently recorded his first career RUSH Sportsman Modified Dirt Series win at PPMS. Chelsie Kriegisch (10), from Ellwood City, is sitting in fourth place with 368 points, which is only 17 points out of first place, and Jacob Jordan (28J), from Aliquippa, completes the top five with 346 points. The RUSH Sportsman Modified Dirt Series is a very competitive division. With the points race as close as it is, you don’t want to miss them this Saturday, as they always put on a great show. 

Last Saturday, in the Diehl Automotive RUSH Late Model Dirt Series feature, Ben Policz (14B), from Rices Landing, and Justin Lamb (93X), from Findlay Township, raced door to door for most of the event, trading the lead quite a few times. A late-race caution forced a two-lap shootout on lap 19 of the 20-lap event. Lamb (93X) took the lead on the restart to beat Policz (14B) by a slim margin and it was one of the best races of the season. Despite finishing in second last Saturday, Policz (14B) was able to seal the deal, winning the 2019 Diehl Automotive RUSH Late Model Dirt Series track championship, which dethroned two-time defending champion Lamb (93X). Policz (14B) currently has 1,458 points with one race left. He could not even show up on Saturday and will still have the championship in the bag. Christian Schneider (1ST), from Warren, Ohio, is in second place with 1,332 points, while John Mollick (60M), from Toronto, Ohio, is in third place with 1,331 points, only one point out of first place. Nico Dabecco (F1), from Verona, is in fourth place with 1147 points, and Jabo Jablonski (3J), from Carnegie, rounds out the top five with 1,139 points. Despite Policz (14B) winning the championship already, most of the other spots are up for grabs.

Danny Rich (67X), from Imperial, has been having an amazing season in the PPMS Pro Stock division. Rich (67X) has five total wins this season and is leading the division with 1,450 points, while Mike Harris (18) from Bridgeville, is in second place with 1,405 points. A.J. Poljak (36), from Baldwin, is in third place with 1,062 points. Last week’s winner, Nick Kocuba (10), from Bulger, is in fourth place with 875 points, and Dave McManus (114), from Elizabeth, rounds out the top five in PPMS Pro Stocks points with 853. 

The Keystone Coach Works Hobby Stock division always has some of the most exciting action of the night. Two-time defending champion Stephen Shelman (17S), from Pleasant Hills, is well on his way to pick up his third championship, which was one of his goals at the beginning of the season. S. Shelpman (17S) is leading the division with 1,519 points and he has seven wins on the season. Marcus Simmons (68X), from Beaver falls, is in second place with 1,455 points, while rookie driver Frank Magill (05), from Jefferson Hills is in third place with 1,415 points. Karlee Kovacs (221K), from Carnegie and Ed Shelpman (17P), from Pleasant Hills, are tied for fourth place with 1,400 points each. 

In the Four Cylinder division, Andy Garlinger (R88), from Hopedale, Ohio, is set to win his second championship in a row at PPMS. Garlinger (R88) currently has 1,310 points. Rookie driver, Tanya Charlier (21), from Midway, is now in second place with 896 points, while John Gill (19G), from Burgettstown, is in third place with 865 points, Craig Rudolph (5R), from Steubenville, Ohio, is in fourth place with 775 points, and Jason Romine (71) completes the top five with 605 points. 

Susie Rudolph (55), from Steubenville, Ohio, has an amazing 12 wins on the season in the Young Guns division. She is sitting in first place with 1,479 points. Kyle Janas (88), from Coraopolis, is in second place with 1,441 points, while Tony Magil (05), from Jefferson Hills, is in third place with 1,431 points, Cameron Hollister (44), from McDonald, is in fourth place with 891 points, and Cameron Lambert (223), from Mars, rounds out the top five with 691 points. 

There is only one points race left for all divisions before the 31st Annual Pittsburgher 100. The season finale, Pittsburgher 100 is on Friday, October 4 and Saturday, October 5 with the 31st Annual Pittsburgher 100 for the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series, paying $20,000 to win. Friday, October 4 will see the qualifying events for all divisions except for the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series.
