MARTIN AND HOLDEN WIN & SO DOES MOTHER NATURE

The 16th Annual Red Miley Rumble for the Rohrich RUSH Dirt Late Models went down in the history books on Saturday night at Dirt’s Monster Half Mile. PPMS would see qualifying, seven heat races, a six-lap Dash, and six scheduled A-main feature event’s. PPMS was also forced to postpone the remainder of the evening due to weather after the second feature. From Punxsutawney, Joe Martin (10S) picked up his second win of the season at PPMS when he won the 30 lap main event for the 16th Annual Red Miley Rumble. Kole Holden (2) , from Tiona, Let all 14 laps of the RUSH Sportsman Modified feature giving him the win. The heat race winner was holden.
Brandon Burgoon (5X) set the fast-time in qualifying for the Rohrich RUSH Late models with a time of 18.951. He was the only driver to qualify in the 18-second range. They were then broken into two heat races with top three from each heat race entering the redraw for the six-lap dash. Martin (10S) would win the dash ensuring him the pole position in the 30-lap mail event. With Martin (10S) starting on the pole, Mike Reft (9R), would line up beside the leader in second.
At the start of the main event, Martin (10S) would pull away with the early lead. As the field came down the front stretch, Dan Lepro 2L hit a car cause hit to sideswipe the wall which sent sparks flying, and then Lepro (2L) was able to drive into the turn one pit entrance ending his night. The event’s first caution came on lap four when Jake Gunn (14G) tried to make it into the turn one pit entrance but stalled out on the track. This time when green replaced yellow, Martin (10S) would again before the pull away from the field. The pack would complete 12 more laps until the caution was back out for the 4 of Philip Bubeck who had car trouble on the backstretch. Martin (10S) would choose the outside on the restart and when green replaced yellow, he would again retain his lead over the field. Despite one more caution in the event, Martin (10S) would hold on and pick up his second late model win at PPMS this season. He was followed by Garret Paugh (03) in second, Reft (9R) in third, Petrelle (84) in fourth, and Burgoon (5X) completed the top five. The heat race winners were Lukon (184) and Bubeck.
Racing resumes next Saturday September 10, 2022 for the Cheplic Packing Hobby Stock Series and for the Josh Lager Memorial paying $1,000. Also on the card are the Rohrich RUSH late model series, the PPMS Penn Ohio Pro Stocks, the Crawford Auto Repair Four Cylinders, and the All Ways Safe Young Guns.
