Impressive Showing in Tyler Nelson's First USAC Race with Unfortunate End
Tyler Nelson #88 made an impressive showing in his first USAC Midget Nationals on the 1/2 mile track known as the Belleville High Banks Speedway in Bellville, KS.
On prelim night, Thursday, July 30th, Tyler turned in an 18.439 lap speed in Qualifying. 17th fastest in a field of 31 cars and only .667 seconds behind Defending Chili Bowl Champion Rico Abreu.
Tyler finished 5th in Heat Race #1 securing the 9th position in the A Main Feature.
Then, the unexpected happened, another driver hit the wall and was forced to swerve in front of the #88. Not much time to react at 140MPH.
