Tyler County Speedway
Ryan Montgomery, Eddie Carrier Jr. & Jeff Gorrell Hit Paydirt at Bullring
The Tyler County Speedway would offer up the annual ‘Pack the Track’ Night featuring FREE General Admission to the best fans in racing and a huge and enthusiastic crowd would be in store for a great night of action-packed short track excitement. Over 120 cars would converge once again at America’s Baddest Bullring and it was Jeff Gorrell claiming the Tammy Clegg Tribute race for the Hotmods. Also garnering West Virginia University of Parkersburg Checkered flags were Ryan Montgomery, Eddie Carrier Jr., Braeden Dillinger, Brandon McGrady, Tanya Colvin, Peyton Baker and Leah Brightwell.
In the main event of the night, a stout field of 28 Sigler Fabrication EDGE Hotmods presented by Poske Performance Parts would do battle in the Annual Tammy Clegg Tribute race. A very entertaining race up front between Jeff Gorrell, Steve Magyar and Tyler Parrish that would see the top 3 in a furious race long battle. But at the line it would be Middlebourne, WV’s Jeff Gorrell picking up his fourth win of the season in the RX1 machine just ahead of a game Steve Magyar, Tyler Parrish, last week’s winner Tyler Spencer and Jamie Thomas.
A highly competitive 23 Jenkins Auto Parts UMP Modifieds would look for one last tune-up before next week’s $10,000 to win Modified MEGA event. If this race is any indication of next week’s Modified MEGA event than it is going to be one heck of a show. In the ‘race of the night’ a tremendous race long battle between former Hillbilly 100 winner Eddie Carrier Jr. and defending track champion Cody Brightwell and veteran Paul Baker that would see the trio battle throughout the 20 lap affair. But at the line it was Carrier driving the 2Brothers Motorsports/ Junior Nolan owned #13 machine holding off the pesky Brightwell to secure the win with Baker, Danny Thomas and Daniel Hill rounding out the top five.
In the J&R Excavating Super Late Models presented by Midcap Land and Timber it was Fairmont, WV’s Ryan Montgomery making his 2021 debut at the ‘Bullring’ a successful one by parking his sharp looking #12 machine in the West Virginia University of Parkersburg Victory Lane. Following Montgomery was Tyler Stutler, Steve Weigle, Shawn Jett and Travis Brown.
Pennsylvanian, Braeden Dillinger would blast from the 2nd row of the Appalachian Mineral and Title Company FASTRAK Late Model feature and check out on his way to his 3rd feature win of the season at the Bullring. Following the impressive Dillinger was defending track champion Donnie Dotson, newcomer John Over, AJ Spagnuola and Brandon Weigle.
Brandon McGrady would park his 12x machine back in the West Virginia University of Parkersburg Victory Lane for the second time in 2021 in the Middlebourne Galaxy Food Center Sportmod Division. It would not be easy as the driver of the Bever Farms entry would hold off current point leader Steven Dotson to secure the win followed by Sonny Leek, Wesley Reed and Justin Robinson.
A strong field of 22 Bullring Bombers would take to the ‘Bullring’ with Ritchie Counties Tanya Colvin driving the wheels off her machine driving from the last row of her heat race to secure her 3rd win of the season in the Bullring Bomber division. Following Colvin was Billy Bunnell, Bill Doll, James Close and Joey Price.
In the Phillips Drug MWRA Mini Wedge division it was Peyton Baker in the Senior class picking up his first win of the season ahead of Carson Thomas and Jake Casto. In the Junior division it was Leah Brightwell going back to back to claim her second win of the season by besting Owen Sabota and Cruz Thomas.
Be sure to join us next Saturday Night, June 19th as the Tyler County Speedway presents the 7th Annual Modified MEGA 100 paying $10,000 to win as the best open wheel racers in the country converge on the ‘Bullring’ for a spectacular night of action. Plus racing in all other classes, it will be a night you won’t want to miss.
