26 Promotions – Show Low, AZ – (September 5th, 2017) – Jarrett Martin has gone through a roller-coaster of ups and downs since he returned from California Speedweek in July, but looked to put July and August behind him as the calendar switched to September and Labor Day weekend in Show Low, Arizona for a two-day show at Show Low Speedway Park.

“We had the car dialed in at Canyon with the wing a few weeks back and had some problems while we were in the lead coming to the white,” Martin explained. “So, I knew we were going to be good with the wing on. The previous race at Show Low, we had the lead in the non-wing feature and blew up. That was disappointing because that was a big show, but I knew after that how strong we are at the track.”

Saturday night started off on the wrong foot as Martin knew something wasn’t right with the car as soon as he hit the track for hot laps.

“Saturday night started off terribly after learning that something was wrong with our fuel delivery in hot laps,” said Martin. “Starting in the back of the heat I thought I would be able to make up some ground, but we were having the same issue and I couldn’t ever get close to full power.”

Martin and his dad, Steve, went to work trying to figure out what was causing the issue, in hopes of just being able to make it out for the feature.

“We changed just about everything we could, but we still had no confidence that we had fixed it,” he said. “While we were out there rolling in the track, I gassed it up a little bit and everything seemed okay. I knew after driving down into turn one on the initial start that everything was working right again.”

Martin went to work picking off cars and was up to third after a handful of laps.

“I was making up the most ground on the guys coming off the corner on the bottom, the car was handling great down there,” said Martin. “After a couple laps battling for the position, we took the lead and never looked back.”

Martin’s Saturday night win was his third of the year and gave him and the Streaker Racing team some confidence heading into Sunday’s non-wing race.

“I knew it wasn’t going to be easy to pull off the win again on Sunday,” he said. “The track conditions were really different, but the car was great in hot laps over the bumps, and the motor was running well.”

Martin started on the pole for his heat and jumped out to the lead early, but the same fuel delivery issues struck again and got worse as the race progressed. Martin hung on, crossing the finish line third.

“After making some big fixes and minor adjustments, we started the feature sixth. By the end of the third lap, we were in third and I knew the car was good, I just had to figure out where to put it,” Martin explained. “Coming through turns one and two on the third lap, I slid up into the second-place car and clipped his rear bumper with my front. I got sideways and caught a hole and got upside down. The car could be worse, I’m just disappointed that I didn’t get to race for a win. Congrats to Dale and Dale Jr. on the victory.”

Martin’s next race is September 16th at Canyon Speedway Park.

Jarrett Martin would like to thank Streaker Racing, K Corp, Pace Chassis, MyRacePass, The Race Shack, Paint by Steve, Resolute Performance Contracting, and Bell Helmets for their continued support.
