Miller, Nelson, Catalano, And O’Neil Get August 5th SSP Wins

Banks, Oregon- Despite some warm weather during the course of the week it didn’t prevent racing from occurring at Sunset Speedway Park. The “Banks Bullring” hosted action on Saturday, August 12th. Classes competing included Budweiser IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sport Mods, Bridgeport Logistics Street Stocks, and Pure Stocks.
Kenny Miller managed to best the field in the Budweiser IMCA Modified ranks. It marked the second occasion in 2017 that he has done so. Jayson Nelson, from Springfield, was credited with the win in the IMCA Sport Mods, his first.
Tony Catalano, of Forest Grove, obtained his first win of the season in the Bridgeport Logistics Street Stocks. In the Pure Stocks Vancouver, Washington’s Danny O’Neil Jr. managed to cross the wire in the feature. In addition there would be a twenty-lap Street Stock vs. Pure Stock race where Arnie Case, from Vancouver, Washington, would be the winner.
Sunset Speedway Park is back in action on Saturday, August 12th, for the Fourth Annual Drivers Appreciation Night. Classes on the card include the Budweiser IMCA Modifieds, Bridgeport Logistics Street Stocks, IMCA Sport Mods, Pure Stocks, Dwarf Cars, 4-Bees, New Bees, and both classes of Micro Sprints. With so many divisions on the card it will be main events only.
Pit Gates open at 2:00 PM, Front Gates 4:00, Time Trials begin at 5:30, with Racing kicking off at 6:30. Tickets are $13.00 for Adults and Seniors/Military/Juniors (13-17) $10.00. A Family Pass (Two Adults and up to four Youths) is offered for $35.00 while Premium Seats are available for $25.00 each. For more information log on to www.sunsetspeedwaypark.com
