Jason Johnson Wins First Career NELMS Victory At Spring Challenge Finale

The Northwest Extreme Late Model Series would be in action at Sunset Speedway Park for the second night of the Spring Challenge presented by 98.7 The Bull on Sunday May 24th. It would be another driver getting their first career win by night's end. Eleven total Late Models signed in representing the states of Oregon and Washington.

The Jackhammer Trucking/T&G Trucking #76 Rayburn of Jason Johnson was the car to beat during the main event. Grabbing the lead on the first lap he would not give it up. It would be the first time the Gresham native has won a main event with the series making two straight nights there would be a first time winner.

The Xtreme Motorsports #36 Victory Circle of Portland's Jody Tanner was second followed by Phillip Johnson of Gresham in his Jackhammer Trucking/T&G Trucking/Pagel Towing #79 Rayburn in third. The top five was completed with Ron Brewster of Redmond, in fourth and driving the Central Oregon Trucking/Driving Force Graphics/W.W. Trailers #31B Rocket, and the Newquist Racing #04 entry of David Newquist was fifth.

Gresham's Dave Walters, in the All-In Property Investments/X-Factor Race Cars/Warpaint Motorsports Graphix #67 MasterSbilt, was fast time and also won the trophy dash. Heat races were won by Walters and DCM Trucking/T-Mac Performance/The Chop Shop/Xtreme Motorsports #8X MasterSbilt of Sonny Modaff from Battle Ground, Washington.

The Northwest Extreme Late Model Series will visit Willamette Speedway in Lebanon on Saturday May 30th. Pit Gates will open at 1:00 PM, the Pit Meeting will take place at 2:30, Front Gates open at 3:30, and Racing starts at 6:00. Tickets are Adults $14.00, Seniors/Military/Juniors (13-17) $10.00, Youths (Ages 12-6) $5.00, and Children under the age of 5 are FREE and a family pass will be offered for two Adults and up to four Youths for just $35.00.
