The Northwest Extreme Late Model Series would invade Sunset Speedway Park on Saturday May 23rd for the first night of the Spring Challenge presented by 98.7 The Bull. A total of twelve cars would sign in on the registration sheets representing the states of Oregon and Washington.

Walters would cross the wire in first place to win his first career NELMS victory.

Phillip Johnson was second followed by the DCM Trucking/T-Mac Performance/The Chop Shop/Xtreme Motorsports #8X MasterSbilt of Sonny Modaff from Battle Ground, Washington in third. The rest of the top five would consist of Vancouver, Washington's Jerry Schram in fourth in his Schram Brothers Excavating/Century III Stables/Bodies By Steve-O #16 MasterSbilt, in fourth, while fifth would belong to the Central Oregon Trucking/Driving Force Graphics/W.W. Trailers #31B Rocket of Ron Brewster out of Redmond.
