Two Races On Hand For Sunset Speedway Park This Weekend

Banks, Oregon- Sunset Speedway Park will have a busy Memorial Day weekend. Saturday May 25th will have the fifth race of 2013 while on the afternoon of Sunday the 26th will be the first race for the brand new Iron Man Enduro Series. Classes in action on Saturday will be the Northwest Wingless Tour, Northwest Extreme Modifieds, Street Stocks, 4-Bees, and Womens.

“For folks looking for some affordable quality entertainment this weekend come out to Sunset Speedway Park,” commented Charlie Weaver, Race Director of SSP, “we’re going to have a great weekend of racing here in Banks. A lot of people are excited about this new Enduro series that will be running on Sunday.”

The Northwest Wingless Tour are back in action at the Banks bullring. So far the NWWT has visited once this year with Sterling Kane earning the victory. The series has completed a total of three races with Kyle Mehner and Kyle Miller both earning wins down at the Cottage Grove Speedway.

In two races Rick Graham has managed to win both Northwest Extreme Modified features in the debut season for the classification. Craig Loomis has won two out of the first three Street Stock races as Marc Farrar won the latest installment a couple of weeks ago. Mike Mastrangelo leads the win column in 4-Bee action with two triumphs and the only other driver to manage a victory is Jason Blythe. In the Womens division Freya Smith has won all the three events up to this point.

On Sunday May 26th will be the first of five scheduled Iron Man Enduro Series races this year. The race will be three hundred laps in distance and should be some great entertainment for folks. And the best part is spectators that watch from the grandstands get in for FREE.

For Saturday’s action the front gates open up at 3:30 PM with racing scheduled to start at 6:00 PM. Admission is Adults $13.00, Seniors/Military $10.00, Children (6-12) $5.00, Children (5 and Under) FREE, and Family Pack (Two Adults and Two Children) $30.00.

On Sunday as mentioned general admission to the race on Sunday is FREE while Pit Passes are $25.00. Pit gates open up at 10:00 am, pit meeting at Noon, and racing will begin around 1:00 PM.

The Sunset Speedway Park is located just west of the Portland metro area in Banks on the Sunset Highway. From April until October you can get your racing fix at this facility which competes weekly primarily on Saturday nights. Regular classes in action include the NW Extreme Winged Sprint Cars, IMCA Modifieds, Street Stocks, 4-Bee’s, NW Extreme Modifieds, and the Womens division.
