Williamson, Sandercock, Pendykoski, and Hornquist Score Wins on Labor Night at the Races

RANSOMVILLE, NY (June 14, 2024) The 15th Annual Labor Night at the Races benefiting the United Way of Niagara County took place on Friday night at the Ransomville Speedway, with new and returning faces finding victory lane. Mat Williamson from Ridgeway, Ontario won the Krown Undercoating 358 Modified feature. Charlie Sandercock from Trenton, Ontario won the Vanderlaan Building Products Northeast Late Model Alliance main event. Nigel Pendykoski from Chippawa, Ontario won his second straight Kevin’s Carpet Cleaning Novice Sportsman feature. Matt Hornquist from Eden, NY picked up the victory in the Sunflowers of Sanborn Mini Stocks.

Phil Vigneri and Mat Williamson brought the Krown Undercoating 358 Modifieds to the green flag for their 30-lap feature event, with Williamson taking the lead on the start. Erick Rudolph and Chad Brachmann would battle for third for several laps. The red flag would come out on lap six for a multi-car incident in turn three as Andrew Smith, Allan Wills, Greg Martin, Steve Lewis Jr, and Brandon Michaud all collided. The restart green would see Williamson take off in the lead ahead of Vigneri, Ryan Susice, Chad Brachmann, and Erick Rudolph. Susice and Brachmann battled for several laps, with Susice taking the third spot on lap nine. Susice would close in on Vigneri for second place, Erick Rudolph would reignite the battle with Chad Brachmann that he had earlier in the event on lap 21, and Rudolph would get in front of Brachmann on lap 22. Williamson would go on to score the win, the 27th of his career at The Big R.

Nathan Rinaldi and John McIntyre were on the front row for the Vanderlaan Building Products Northeast Late Model Alliance main event, with Rinaldi going three wide with McIntyre and Charlie Sandercock, with Sandercock taking over the lead. Jimmy Johnson would work his way through the field as he started 22nd on the grid and by lap six, was up to seventh place. 21st place starter David Pangrazio would be up to tenth place by lap eight. Austin Hauser would hit the turn four wall to bring out the caution on lap eight. Rob Ledingham would take third away from Ryan Lambert on the restart. Johnson would enter the top five as he went three wide with Lambert and DuBois. The caution would come back out on lap 10 as Rob Ledingham hit the turn four wall. Johnson would battle with Rinaldi for second on the restart, as Sandercock started to pull away from the field. David Pangrazio would take over fourth place on lap 11. Pangrazio would pass Johnson on lap 13 to move into third place and would reel in Rinaldi for second place. The caution would fly on lap 20, as Brian McDonald, Rich Sanders, and Dave Stolzenberg Jr spun in turn two. Over the final 10 laps, Charlie Sandercock would pull away from the field and would go on to collect the checkered flag.

Jocelyn Just and Tyler Foster led the Kevin’s Carpet Cleaning Novice Sportsman to the green flag for their feature event, with Foster jumping out into the lead. Ken Camidge would take over second, with Nigel Pendykoski racing in third place. Pendykoski would take over second place on lap five and would go after Foster for the lead. While working lap traffic, Pendykoski would take over the lead. Pendykoski would go on to score his second straight feature win.

Ryan Plante and Matt Hornquist were on the front row for the Sunflowers of Sanborn Mini Stock feature event, with Hornquist showing the way. Hornquist would continue to set the pace throughout the feature event, and held off challenges from Plante, Cole Susice, and Jeffrey Wynes. Susice would challenge Hornquist for the lead over the final six circuits, but Hornquist would hold off Susice to score the feature win.

Next Friday night, Northtown Mahinda and Waste Management presents Family Autograph Night. The racing action will feature the Krown Undercoating 358 Modifieds, Stirling Lubricants DIRTcar Sportsman, KiPo Chevrolet Street Stocks, Sunflowers of Sanborn Mini Stocks, and the Kevin’s Carpet Cleaning Novice Sportsman. Pit gates will open at 5pm, grandstands open at 6pm, and racing will get underway at 7:15pm.
