Walker Starts The Season Off With Three Top 5 Finishes
Jack Walker Racing - BOW, NH (May 9, 2019) - The 2019 season has started off with a bang for Jack Walker in his Semi Pro Legend car starting the season with 3 top 5 finishes.
"We worked really hard this off season to prepare for the 2019 season and it looks like it's paying off so far." he said. "Starting the year in the rain was a bit of a challenge and we didn't have the right tires for the wet but we managed to hold off the field and finished in the 5th spot for our first race with the new engine."
USLCI made the move to switch engine packages during the 2018 season. The JWR team finally got their hands on a couple during the offseason after having seen them run during Winter Nationals in Charlotte NC.
"We made the trip to Charlotte for the 2018 banquet and were able to catch a road course race while we were down there" he said. "We got to see first hand how the new FZ09 engine compared to the old FJ1250 and they looked pretty good. With the sale they had running at the time we knew that was the way to go."
Walker followed his 5th place finish in the wet with a third place finish in the dry at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.
" Our first weekend was pretty rough as far as tough luck goes," he said. "The shifting linkage broke during qualifying so we didn't get many qualifying laps and had to start farther back than we would have liked. The new engine was awesome in the dry weather and I had a blast racing some of those guys making it to the third spot for the finish. Had we qualified better we might have been able to battle for the win it's always nice to get on that podium."
The following week the team returned to Loudon to race the mini oval track.
"We were the only car on the track with the new engine so it was either gonna make or break us." he said "We qualified third in our heat meaning we started 5th for the feature."
It was a caution filled race that finally found a rhythm towards the end.
"For most of the race i had the speed but I would get stalled out on corner exit, so I had to time it right to keep my speed up. It's tough on that track because of how much you need to slow the cars down in the turn with the old engine and the difference in torque between the two."
With two laps to go Walker was able to make the move from third to second and hold off the competition to take the second place trophy.
"We haven't started a season with two podium weekends in quite a while so I'm pretty excited about that." he said. "Obviously we are hoping that we can keep up the momentum for the coming weeks when we take on the NELCAR tour."
Walker's next outing will be at Hudson Speedway for opening day of the NELCAR tour this Sunday. Racing starts at 1:03pm

Sponsor Highlight - Slick Products
Slick Products is more than just a company that makes cleaning products, They are about making the RIGHT cleaners that work for you. In 2008, brothers Brian and Jimmy Wilkinson along with their father Jim designed a formula that would quickly clean off the red Hawaiian mud from their dirt bikes without corroding or damaging the metal and plastic. That product was called Slick Offroad Wash and in 2009 won a prestigious SEMA Global Media Award for Best New Offroad Product and became the official cleaner of the Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki.
Over the last decade, they have invested everything into building a company rooted in hard work, family values, and taking excellent care of the things they love. They have made it their goal to educate and encourage their customers to take pride in the things they love and it is their mission to provide safe and effective cleaning products that maintain the life, look, and value of your vehicles.
"We struggled to find a product that could clean the cars quickly without scratching and without always having water to use." Walker said. "Slick products "Multi-Surface Shine Protectant" is so smooth the dust and grime doesn't even stick to the cars. If we do need to do a quick clean at the track their "Instant Detailer" is just the thing. And it smells great too."
Walker would also like to thank Amsoil Inc. Go Pro, Spy+ Optic, Swift Springs and Milk-N-It Dairy Products for their continued support.
