Trenca Garners Career-Best 410ci Sprint Car Result at Jersey Rush V

Inside Line Promotions – NEW EGYPT, N.J. (Aug. 26, 2015) – Joe Trenca captured a career-best result in a 410ci sprint car on Tuesday at New Egypt Speedway.

Trenca powered the Mucci Motorsports entry to a 13th-place result during the Jersey Rush V, which was only his fifth 410 event of the season.

“I’ve only ran a 410 a handful of times, but we like running it,” he said. “It’s a lot more challenging and the competition is a lot higher. It’s a good learning experience. We just need to tweak the cars a little bit and I have to get used to driving the cars a little different.”

Trenca kicked off the event by qualifying 10th quickest. That put him on the pole of a heat race, which locked the top two finishers into the feature redraw.

“We led most of the heat race and then (Danny) Dietrich got underneath us,” he said. “After that I tried moving my line and that allowed (J.J.) Grasso to get by us coming to the white flag.”

Trenca placed third in the heat race to garner the 10th starting position for the main event.

“We fell back to 16th or so early,” he said. “The car didn’t take well to the full fuel load. About five or six laps in I started moving up higher and higher. It started coming to me and we battled with good guys who raced with 410s a lot. We picked up a few positions and definitely learned more so it was a good night.”

Trenca ended 13th, which was two positions better than his previous best result in the division.

He is taking this weekend off before returning to competition Sept. 4 at Brewerton Speedway in Brewerton, N.Y.; Sept. 5 at Thunder Mountain Speedway in Center Lisle, N.Y.; and Sept. 6 at Utica-Rome Speedway in Vernon, N.Y., with the Lucas Oil Empire Super Sprints.
