Murray County Speedway action from June 9th

Racing Action for June 9th from the Murray County Speedway
Racing action returned on a very windy Friday night at the Murray County Speedway. All of the normal classes were in attendance and the races were sponsored by Van't Hof Milk Hauling. With a good car count, the night looked to be action packed.

S&S Electric MCRA Pickups
The first feature race to take the track were the pickups. 5 trucks made the call for the 8 lap feature. TJ Gertsema led the field to the green flag. As the race started, Matt Odom got a great jump and took the race lead. Behind him, Jordan Rolling made his way to second and looked to reel in Odom. Rolling caught Odom and took over the race lead. Jordan Rolling went on to take the feature win. Scott Stirn finished second, Matt Odom finished third, and TJ Gertsema finished fourth.

Plaid Moose Café IMCA Sport Compact
Next to take the track were the sport compacts. 13 cars made the call for the 12 lap feature. Jordan Ahlers led the field to the green flag. As the race stared, Kent Miller jumped out to the early lead. Behind him, Jason Wynia made his way to second and began to challenge for the lead. After an early caution, Miller maintained the race lead. Josh Uhl had made his way to third and began to challenge Wynia for second. Wynia held on to second and was able to get around Miller to take the race lead. However a late caution forced a Green-White-Checkered finish. On the restart, Miller, Wynia, and Uhl went 3 wide as they fought for the lead. Miller was able to edge out in front to take the race lead. After everyone took the white flag, a caution came out which caused the race to end under caution. This meant that Kent Miller would take home the feature win. Jason Wynia finished second, Josh Uhl finished third, and Dylan Schreier finished fourth.

Legend Seeds Hobby Stocks
Following the sport compacts were the hobby stocks. 14 cars made the call for the 15 lap feature. Silas Top led the field to the green flag. As the race started, Top jumped out to the lead. John Ross quickly got around Top to take the race lead. Behind him, Cory Probst, Eric Gillette, and Derek Platt were locked in a battle for second. Probst was able to secure second and looked to reel in Ross. Gillette was right behind him and began to challenge for second. However, a late caution forced another Green-White-Checkered finish. On the restart, Ross maintained the lead. Probst quickly began to challenge and the race would go down right to the line. In the end it was John Ross who took home the feature win by a nose. Cory Probst finished second, Eric Gillette finished third, and Trevor Holm finished fourth.

Sturdevant’s Auto Supply Sport Modifieds
Next up on the track were the sport modifieds. 11 cars made the call to the 15 lap feature. Tanner Gregoire led the field to the green flag. As the race began, Jim Horejsi jumped out to the early lead. Cole Bents made his way to second and looked to challenge for the race lead. Horejsi was able to distance himself from the field. However, an early caution tightened things up. On the restart, Bents got a great jump and took the race lead. However, problems for Bents as he spun in front of Brycen Johnson, resulting in both cars being heavenly damaged. All the drivers involved were okay. On the restart, Horejsi took over the lead. Danny Myrvold and Jeremy Van Ede began to fight for second. After a series of late cautions, the race went to yet another Green-White-Checkered finish. On the restart, Horejsi kept the lead and went on to take home the feature win. Danny Myrvold finished second, Jim Gregoire finished third, and Jeremy Van Ede finished fourth.

Car Toyz Stock Cars
Next up were the stock cars. 7 cars made the call for the 18 lap feature. Shaun Bruns led the field to the green flag. On the start, Nick Johansen jumped out to the early lead. Dustin Larson made his way to second and looked to challenge Johansen. Larson was able to get around Johansen for the lead. Laron distanced himself from the field and went on to take the feature win. Nick Johansen finished second, Jim Larson finished third, and Kevin Debaere finished fourth.

RH Sealcoating & Asphalt IMCA Modifieds
The IMCA modifieds would round out the night. 15 cars made the call for the 20 lap feature. Jim Mathieson led the field to the green flag. As the race began, Jeremy Smith got a great jump and took the race lead. After an early caution, Smith maintained the lead. However, contact in the field led to Ed Leonard rolling his car and the red flag being brought out. Leonard got out of his car on his own power and was okay. On the restart, Smith maintained the race lead. Dalton Magers made his way to second and began to challenge for the lead. However, Smith was able keep the lead and distance himself from the field. Behind him, Jeff Larson began to challenge for second. As that happened, Smith was able to pull away even more. However, a late caution tightened things up. On the restart, Smith maintained the lead but Larson quickly challenged for the lead. Jeremy Smith held on to take the feature win. Jeff Larson finished second, Dalton Magers finished third, and Josh Bonnstetter finished fourth.

Racing action will return again next Friday. All of the same classes will be present and the races will be sponsored by Pizza Ranch of Slayton & Midwest Supply of Slayton.
