Inside Line Promotions – FARMINGTON, Mo. (July 29, 2020) – Greg Wilson posted a pair of top-five performances last weekend while competing in the Midwest.

Wilson led his Hercules Tires, Ohio Logistics, DNC Hydraulics and Gear Off Road sponsored team to a fifth-place showing on Friday at Jacksonville Speedway in Jacksonville, Ill., before hustling to a season-best runner-up result on Saturday at St. Francois County Raceway.

“It was a good weekend for us to try stuff,” he said. “We’ve been working on a lot of things the last couple of weeks. We spent some time at Maxim and some time at Engler. Hopefully we’ll keep showing signs of improving and we’ll keep making gains.”

Wilson’s weekend started with a Built Ford Tough Midwest Open Wheel Association event at Jacksonville Speedway, where he placed fourth in a heat race after lining up fifth.

“We drew in a good heat race a little ways back and we could only pass a car,” he said. “That made us start 14th in the main event. We got banged up a little at the beginning of the race. Cars wrecked in front of me and when I slowed down I got ran over from behind. That’s just racing, especially on a bullring. We finished the race, but the car was tore up a little. We were lucky to come home fifth.”

Wilson’s charge to a fifth-place outing marked his eighth top five of the season.

He ventured to St. Francois County Raceway the following night. Wilson advanced from fifth to third place in a heat race before maneuvering from seventh to second place in the A Main.

“The track started rubbering up about halfway,” he said. “We got to second with a pretty decent race car. It was a good weekend. We got to try a lot of stuff and it seemed like we were pretty good both nights.”

Wilson will take the momentum from back-to-back top fives into a four-race Ollie’s Bargain Outlet All Star Circuit of Champions presented by Mobil 1 weekend. It begins on Thursday at Plymouth Dirt Track in Plymouth, Wis., for the Rayce Rudeen Foundation Race. 34 Raceway in West Burlington, Iowa, hosts a race on Friday before Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa, showcases a show on Saturday. The weekend concludes on Sunday at Huset’s Speedway in Brandon, S.D., during its grand reopening.
