TULSA, Okla. (January 19, 2018) The fight to make the show at the Lucas Oil Chili Bowl Nationals presented by General Tire is always tough but throw in a case of influenza, and that fight becomes near impossible. Nevertheless, Blake Hahn still managed to fight his way into a D-Feature on Saturday night.

“Everyone talks about the ‘Chili Bowl Flu’ but this was the Flu. I pretty much felt like I had been run over by a truck all week,” commented Hahn. “I practiced Monday and wasn’t bad. I was tired, but still felt like I could race, but when we got to Wednesday, I couldn’t even hardly move so we ended up shifting our qualifying night to Friday.”

Advancing to a Qualifier through his Heat Race on Friday, Hahn’s overall Passing Point performance put him starting 10th in the first B-Feature where he came up one spot shy of the transfer.

“I still felt run down on Friday, but I finally felt somewhat human. The Heat Race I just made a mistake, and that meant I was having to dig out the rest of the night. The B-Main is where we really got rolling, just ran out of laps to get the job done, but Rusty [Kunz] really had the car nice.”

Putting the Velocita / Parker Lee Project No. 52 in E-Feature action on Saturday, Blake was able to advance through to first D-Feature but would only get to 15th before the checkered flag flew.

“Considering having to race with the Flu, I was overall pleased to get where we did end up, but at the same time, I know we are capable of making the A-Feature and I know we had the car and people to get it done. I just can’t say thank you enough to everyone who supports us and helps make it all possible. Just need to be healthy going in next time.”

With the Chili Bowl wrapped up, the team has turned attention to the upcoming Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour. With a 44 race slate along with a mixture of ASCS Regional, POWRi West, and other special events on the lineup, Hahn is looking at close to 70 races on the 2018 season which will be updated as the season progresses at http://www.blakehahnracing.com.
